Here's some pics of Sunday's ride to Santa Barbara - 290 miles round trip from my house.
The day started off bright sun shine, cool temps - low 60's. The meet up was nice, a couple of the members that I really like showed up to see us off - too bad they couldn't make it - I enjoy riding with them. We headed out and went north - it started to warm up - I thought I was dressed too warm... as we got near the coast one freeway ends as it goes through a tunnel to the beach. Entering the tunnel I was overheating/ sunny skies/ warm - mid 70's... pop out on Pacific Coast Highway, thick fog temps in the high 50's, I started to get a chill - We rode up in the fog for about 15 miles and then decided to make a course change back inland. Go over one hill, bright sunny skies - high 70's, the droplets on my windshield dried up in a few seconds. I was amazed at how the fog and temps changed in such a short time. Great ride, did some exploring around the Santa Barbara area, lake Casitas and some back twisty roads. Had lunch on the wharf - you can ride the bike on it - cool stuff - nice lunch - a little pricey but what the hey.
Since the coast was blanketed in a fog bank we rode home on the inland side of the mountains, nice ride - I had a great time. I got nearly 50 mpg average for the day.
Here's some pics.

Looks like the full California treatment! Little mountains, little beach, little city traffic. Your pictures are excellent. Captured the moments pretty good. Is that the helmet cam?

In picture #2 above you can see the rig - his helmet is hung over the bar - the clown helmet - you can see the go-pro on the top. He does the video from that. The helmet set up works better because of less vibration than a handle bar mount. The pictures I have here are the ones he snaps as he rides with a point and shoot that hangs around his neck and he velcros to his jacket while he rides. He does a great job of both. He usually takes almost 200 pics per ride, I go through and get ones that show you guys more of the ride portions perspective from my point of view. The GF got a really nice one but she's afraid she'll lose it if she tries to take pics while we're underway - and she is kinda clumsy at times of stress - so I'm going with what she says cause I'm not willing to buy her a new one. :icon_cheesygrin:

The reason he uses the point and shoot is the picture quality, I have to resize them to fit on the forum but they blow up to huge detail. I crop them down and format them for composition.
Here is picture #3 in its original format before and after... you get the idea.

My wife takes the pictures and videos while sitting on the back. We put a lanyard(strap) on her camera in which she puts around her wrist. The digital cameras are the best because you can get a 500 picture "stick" but de;lete the ones you don't llike. The video camera...often she forgets to shut it off so we'll have hours of what the road looks like as you're looking down at it going 70 mph :icon_laughing:

I can sure see why you enjoy California.
