In my defense I was using the WWW in the hopes of meeting same like minded Harley riders. I really was hoping to find a riding partner to tear up the roads with. Its safer and more enjoyable with another rider or 2. Haven't had any luck. The WWW is a hard to defeat foe. The draw of the fake and phony attention and safety of the home computer seems to be quite the preferred attraction for the masses. And bullshit biker soap operas like Sons odf Anarchy and Ride with the Devil don't help.

I miss the days when Harleys and titty bars were for Harley low lifes.

It would be fun to have a few buddy’s to roll with. Especially a road trip around the country. Wild Hog’s was a funny flick. It’s a view of the modern urban biker… with a funny twist. You have to admit, it’s pretty damn close. Son’s of Anarchy… it’s entertaining. The idea of a club like that were everyone actually works and supports their family honestly and maintains a club on the side with their own clubhouse… ride and party together… now that would be cool. A family of your choosing that has your back. Good guys that aren’t about being obnoxious pricks. If that is possible in the real world… I don’t know. I don’t know of any. Ride with the Devil… it seemed like a joke to me. I think the producers of the show really tried to make it more than it was. I didn’t watch much of it.. maybe one or two shows. OCC was a interesting show for about 7 shows, then it was just stupid.

In all this, we were all newbies once... we were all wannabe's once... there is nothing wrong with either. However, being one or both and acting like you rolled right out of Hollister and know it all... well that is not cool.

I'm the first to roll the other direction for those group rides - but I was hoping to meet up with one or two others - just to ride with and have some company. I did have a few friends back in NY - just like the "Wild Hogs". We had a blast back then!!

Years ago (1996) I met another rider in a bar - I was on my first group ride with the HD dealership out here in CA. He was out riding solo - we met trying to get passed each other in a doorway. Started BS'n and found out we lived pretty close to each other. Rolled down the road a piece and toked one up, his.

We became good friends - I went to his house met his family - went on rides with him and his son, daughter, nephew and wife. Good stuff.

Fast forward - he sold his bike - told me he was moving out of the country - I never heard from him again.... I came across his old number last year - wondered what happened to him so I did a search online and came across his son's name and number - gave it a call and wound up talking to his mother (90+ years old). She and I never met but after I explained who I was and my friendship with her son, she caught me up on him. He never left the country - he lives in a nearby city. I didn't hear from him for 7 years... I gave momma my number - a month later he gave me a call... I left it with " Let's meet up for lunch - my treat" never heard back - I called him again right after new years... Reminded him I'd treat for lunch - haven't heard back yet... Typical CA friendship...

I'm good with the friends I have - I just hoped that I'd have some company on a ride so I'm not solo all the time. I can take a passenger but I prefer riding solo in that aspect - I'm only responsible for myself. At least with other riders I have company but no one to worry about on the back seat.

He did you a favor. Poser poser poser. When you told him anything about being gun ho and a harley rider that sealed your fate.

In my above mentioned experience before I just quit and left I emailed my concerns in private hoping for at least consideration to be heard and an explaination. Maybe a chance to be heard and turn it around and head in the right direction. In the name of brotherhood I was kicked out but sneakily. When a poster is banned, banned is placed under their name. I am banned there but they did not place banned under my name and make it appear like I just stopped posting because I was liked by more then a few. What the did to me was gonna be hard to explain. What happened to me went unexplained. Weird, as it was suppose to have been a member run forum. Great theory, fell flat in real time. People are sneaky. Others sell their souls to hold onto their position as moderator.

I think most friendships come and go through different phases in our lives. Thinking back through the years, at differen times in my life a few I thought were good friends were for a time, then thier real character shown through. We all have different ideas about what a good friend is and teh deal breakers are probably diverse as well. A person's motivations in a friendship can change from having fun to thier own financial gain or trying to mess around with your ole lady. A good honest friend is not common. I don't trust easy. I trust no one anymore than I have to. I remember one good friend I had, best man at my wedding. We had known (not biblicly lol) each other since high school. I got along well with his girl friend and her and I hung out a few times when it would have been better if we hadn't. Nothing was going on between us. However, he left her and hooked up with my ex sister in law and she got him back by telling him her and I had a closer relationship than we did. I have not always made good choices in my life, I own that. I'm human and I make mistakes. However, in this case I was a gentleman and thought her and I were friends. Lost two friends in that deal. Another best man man at a wedding of mine ended up not being a good friend as well. :icon_rolleyes: Some folks are good friends for a time and a very few for a lifetime. Just my two cents

The strange thing in that whole deal was the willingness of the sheep to just drink the koolaide. I don't know, its a strange thing how people can act. However, my guess is that last discussion would have went much differently if it would have been done in person, as a group. People tend to act more civil when they are in person and actually have to back thier filthy mouth up. :icon_cool_too:

My brothers... my brothers by blood, we are all different, but I got their back. If someone is trying to harm them or their family, I'm there. If they need a buck, I'll give them two. No, I am not going to support thier bad decisions nor would I expect them to support mine. If they act an ass and get in a fight I won't let them get killed, but I won't harm someone else for defending themselves. We dont hang out or do things together. It's a matter or honor. It would be cool if we could all ride together again, like when we were kids. I don't see that ever happening.

The behind the key board mob mentality. No one standing up for what was right.

It was very awkward in person to say the least, when you pull into the parking lot and it dawned on you this might not be the place for you. To many people automatically took unauthorized juristiction over your life...really...I can speak for myself? Luckily I took it in small doses and spent the majority of the time with my family touring the area and taking in the sights. It was dangerous when riding 20-30 bikes at a time. No concern for the group only individuals. There was minimum to no organization and a number of people were dangled in harms way. Either I was walking away or I was getting banned for simply voicing my concerns and in private.
