The Harley-Davidson Confederate Edition
Talk about rare bikes - wow. I never saw or even heard about this bike.
It's a wonder they allow the Dukes of Hazard to show the Confederate flag...

Speaking of affirmative action...about 12-15 years ago my mother really wanted a copy of the Disney film "Song of the South". To my surprise not a copy to be found in the USA. I did find a copy but it had to be ordered from Europe.

I looked yesterday online and you can get versions now in the USA but not complete versions due to Disney concern about the depiction of black folks in that movie. Upon further investigation it was confirmed that their has been a reissue by Disney but in snippets and not in its full original version.

How BS is that? America has lost its ever loving mind.

At least we still have HD and very expensive gas... History will eventually be re-written to the new standards and all the minorities will be the heroes.

Was looking thru some old reading stuff I keep by the toilet and I found at the bottom of the stack somthing I'd gotten 30 years ago. It was out dated as it ended in 1981 but in perusing the content I was suprised to see the first 5 speed tranny came in 1980 on the then new FLT model. Wondering if the was also the first year of the shark nosed fairing?

Sounds like 1979 was the first year of the shark nose fairing then. However 19 hardly counts as a production year as much as a prototype year.

I would say the FLT of old was the Godfather of the now ever popular RG's? What say ye?

Are the modern RG's FLT's still? I don't know.

The roadglide designattion still starts with FLT, so that makes it a FLT, changes have been made but just like the FLH the designation has been there since 1955 for FLH

FLH- R - that's the thing about the Harley line - the heritage of the lineage... They can change the names but the letter designations are where the real history is.

FLT stand for shark nose fairing
FLH stands for batwing fairing

Never noticed that the RG series still carried the FLT letters. Reason being I could never seem to get past the ugliness of that shark nosed fairing, lol. :icon_laughing: Still can't.
