I have an 07 FLHRS Road King Custom which came with the 1 inch lower Air Shocks, I think the street glides do too, they don't leak so thats not the issue. I have the hand pump and adjust air regularly but just can't seem to get it right, my fault I'm sure. Can't seem to ride in typical RK comfort that its known for. I know seat and handle bars contibute too but I have heard progressive makes a pretty good upgrade, just wondering if anyone has had better riding comfort by swaping out your rear shocks

If you have the pump with the air gauge on it you might want to check the accuracy of the gauge by double checking the pressure in the shocks.
I keep my shocks at 10psi front and back, Still cushy but firm when I'm one up. When I kept them lower the ride was far too mushy.
Hope it helps.

I do believe that front shocks are air too. Look for a air valve close to the neck on the front end.

never heard of a front air shock before mine are oil bath front and air on the back.
I plan to switch the front to a monotube gas charge from progressive and for the back probably the 940.
I've read alot of reviews about progressive shocks and it seems it doesn't matter whitch one you choose there a big step above stock HD

My Road King has both front and rear air shocks.
My back air system - both shocks - are aired up by the air valve in the cover recess.
The front air system valve is on the inner front fork next to the head tube.

If you didn't know you have air in the system then it is probably flat and that would make it ride like crap.

No Front air shocks on my 07, got my HD service manual right here to verify, Just talked to The Harley Service dept they said last year for front fork air shocks was 2001, I will check out the 940s from progressive, Why is it Harley puts the bottom of the line stuff on their bikes, actually we all know why, it's just a shame

I disagree. Best way to keep your HD reliable is to keep it stock and/or use OEM. Learn the hard way..everyone including me does.

I have to disagree with your disagrement. The stock air shocks on my 08 flhx are junk. Progressive shocks come with a lifetime warranty.
I have friends that have switched to progressive front and rear and say there a 1000% better, smoother ride and better handling.
There have also been alot of issues with dunlop tires. cupping, premature wear just to name a few. I switched to michelin and so far I'm amazed with how much smoother my ride is they stop better, grip better, turn better and hundreds of reviews say they wear better.

I will agree that people should be careful when adding an aftermarket tuner I've read that some have fried there ecm's with the PCIII.
The advice I would give anyone wanting to upgrade is do your homework

It would be interesting to experience what you are calling junk. It would also be interesting to experience what your friend is calling "1000% better". I say that because a friend of mine used my old Heritage once for a week on a trip. He bitched about how hte seat was uncomfortable and how the shocks sucked. (He almost put it back on the trailer). :icon_cool_too: Now keep in mind I have owned bikes most of my life and the Heritage was my first harley. He raved about how much better Mustang seats were than the old crappy OEM seat. Well as luck would have it I had to replace my crappy old OEM seat with a used (hardly used) OEM seat. The seller had replaced it with a Mustang seat. He was one of those guys that actually rides to Sturgis each year on his bike and I ask him, is the mustang seat that much better? He said no, not much difference. He said you gotto pay to look good.

As far as the Dunlops, if you take care of them, they last just fine. My Dunlops consistantly lasted 18 to 20k on the front and 9 to 10k on the back. I was conservtive with the front tires. I am good with that kind of performance.

I don't know it all by any means and "better" is speculative at best. Some folks will "change" thier bike and now it's "much" better than the schmo that just has the crappy old OEM junk. To each his own and each person should make thier bike suit thier taste and individuality.
