Last weekend I fueled up my 06 Deuce. Went to start it and it would not light up. Towed it home to find the ignition switch had melted along with the connector for the wire connection. Central harley in Olathe, home town, had the switch and the switch came with the connector. I tried to check the wires and fuses. Everything ohmed out ok. Looked ok. Took a long ride on Sunday everything ok. Rode to work, fine. Went on a ride to bike night last night, and on the way home, Crusin 45, the scoot just shut down as if someone had turn the ignition off. Had to park it. Wondering if someone has seen this or knows what could be going on.

I am sure that you probably thought about this, maybe it is grounding out. As in a bare wire that is connected to the switch somewhere in the wiring touching the frame and grounding out. Just a thought hope this helps.

thanks I have checked out the wiring and I cannot find a short in the system. I did get a chance to check the ignition switch It is not damaged. does anyone know where they hide the curcuit braker on the machine. I will replace it but still not sure why it blew.

I bought the shop manual for my bike from harley. It has every wiring diagram and part number. Made it really easy to install my alarm and keep the bike running right. I think the manual costs about 40 bucks and is a quick cure for most headaches.

burned out 2 switches on my 2000 heritage, maake sure connectors (mating) are TIGHT no sloop. vibration and loose connection makes for alot of heat!
