Holy shyte Batman!! What a sticker on that FXRS helmet...I imagine if you can afford it, its a nice one!

I've had a Nolan N-102 or 103 I forget which FFF helmet for years. Primarily for colder weather. And like you said Kickstand I prefer the conveniance of the flip up front for all too many reasons. You don't have to take the helmet off to talk or do transactions for one. You just flip the front part up and viola!

I see more and more big twin riders wearing the FF or FFF helmets this past season. Its no guarantee biut every little bit helps, especially as we get older.

Sure is easy to get caught up in the motorcycle riders aparel game. So many nice jackets,so many nice helmets,never mind boots and gloves and such,lol. No more novelty helmets for me anymore. I wore novelty helmets for over 20 years. A novelty hemet saved my melon in a serious wreck in 1990. The head always seemed to be a point of contact in one form or another in every mishap I've been in. Always wore a helmet. Always will.

I wear Tourmaster touring pants and which have kevlar in the shin and knees. The Tourmaster touring coat has them in the elbows and lower back. Surprisingly the killer HD leather jacket I bought has kevlar in the elbows,shoulders and lower back. Again, no guarantee but every little bit helps. And remember "Murphies law"......lol.

I got a smoking deal on the carbon fiber FXRG helmet. I would have gone with the FFF if it was that type. I see a huge advantage in being able to spit your bubble gum out without having to handle it or take a helmet off. I haven't ridden with it yet, it's been raining on and off all week/weekend...

I hate helmets I know it's wise to wear one but I've never been acused of being wise just a wise arse.
I picked up a half shell a year ago for riding in states that have helmet laws and for traveling on interstate highways.
This past weekend I took a trip to kansas to see my parents. I wanted to pick up a fullface because the morning ride was going to be chilly.
I shoped around the day before I took off but didn't find anything I liked, so I borrowed one from a friend.
Saturday morning I hit the road, I got about five miles when I asked myself how the hell am I going to smoke with this thing on. Yeah I know, bad habbit right.
I decided to hit the HD dealer in Mt.Vernon and see what they had on the shelf. I picked up a fulmer fullface flip up. It was nice to be able to flip the face up and
scratch my nose, smoke and take a drink of water without stopping.

Yeah - I think that the flip ups are the way to go, who knows there may be one of those in my future.

To each his own. I'm glad for you that you wear one from time to time at least.

Yeah I concur about the FFF helmet and the convenience of the flip face.

The Nolans are some of the lightest if not the ligtest FFF helmets on the market. The Nolan 102 I have is about 220-230$. It also has a VPR(flip down sun reflector).

I looked at a helmet with a flip down reflector inside I can't remember the brand but it was pretty slick

The flip down inner visor was a nice touch on one that I saw someone using.

Having the new helmet made me wonder.
Is it still considered illegal if you have ear buds (music) in both ears and you have a helmet that covers your ears? I guess if they can't see your ears then they can't tell if you have something in them.

I currently use ear plugs to keep the wind turbulence out while I ride. They also quiet down the noise - I have them in both ears. I use my half helmet and I know that i have passed more than one cop while I rode that way, so they have no problem with it.

I don't plan on making the music so loud that I can't hear anything else, more like just some back ground tunes. That is if I can get that new helmet over my noggin with ear buds in.

I bet not. Wouldn't make sense. They sell helmets that you can add ear speakers to so why would it be illegal to ride with a speakerless helmet and ear buds? I hear you though..why give some ego surpressed Andy Fife type a chance to have a ball at your expense. Those kind of cops are out there.
