It's funny you say that. I have never had the course. I have had discussions with other folks that ride often and they all have the same philosophy. I think it becomes instinctual after a while. You can't roll like the cars... I see other bikes bunching up with them. If one of them cagers drops his twinkie (if they still existed) there could be a major pile up with the bike in the middle.

FYI...All the research I've found says the 2005 Wideglide should be getting 42 city and 50 hwy.

My bike is "supposed" to get 40/50... but I never get that. If I can get over 40 on the hwy I feel good that day. My bike never got that mileage... I believe that they get that mileage on a closed course running slower than the speed limit and optimum conditions, no red lights, no cranking it up to pass a slower vehicle.

My Heritage got a rock solid 38-42 MPG most of the years I rode it. I think there is still some issues with the carb. Every now and then it will spit, so I know something is alittle off.

Mine will hickup sometimes. Usually while its still a little cold. I have a manual choke, so I just keep it on a little longer. Usually when I get on the freeway I can shut if off.

At in a nut shell that is the EFI vs Carb bedate. Both have good and bad things about them. The CV sounds like a great carb. I heard the CV carb also adjust to the altitude change?

I am not sure about the CV at high altitudes. My gues is it would not compensate at high altitudes. I think the jets would have to be changed if you wanted to be right.

I have, since posting this read that because the CV carb uses vacuum to adjust the slide that the barometric pressure will speed up the action to a point, so to a point you get a modicum of altitude adjustment.
