Im looking to make a trip next summer from Cedar Falls, Iowa to Anchorage, Alaska that will include traveling throught the following: Rapid City, SD and Great Falls, MT picking up the East Access Route. At Calgary Im planning on taking Icefields Parkway to Jasper where I will follow Yellowhead Highway to Cassiar Highway then on to the Alaska Highway. Two points of interest at this time are going through Stewart, BC and Watson Lake, YT. Once I get to Anchorage I will be heading south to Whittier where I will be taking Alaska Highway Ferry to Bellingham, Washington. I did purchase a copy of "The Milepost" which Im finding very helpful but am still interested in hearing from anyone that can add more ideas of must not miss sites.

I've been hoping to go myself since 2009 (was supose to go in 2010 but went to California instead) so I been reading, researching and trying to figure out the who what where and why's. I heading out from NH. I was thru your town in -10 on my way to San Diego and visited Anamosa.. what a great little town with so much to see and do. It has the National Motorcyle Museum, JP cycle, and "Scooters" bar & grill. And the hotel by JP's has a motorcycle theme with parking louvers that extend to cover over the parked motorcycles.
I'll be more then happy to share my information with you about Alaska that I have uncovered over the last 3 years. I'm going in 2014. I'm gonne be as prepared as possible. Just Picked up a heated vest for the wife, a portable air compressor a complete tubeless tire repair kit. Also a small 2 person tent and 2 saddle bag gas containers and a 2 gallon alluminum tube for gas.
If interested shoot me a PM and I'll send you my phone #.

I need to save the money and vacation time for 2014. And I am hoping to somehow maybe if possible orchestrate seeing any members here who might be sorta close to my route. Unfortunatley AZ and TX are a little south as I would like to meet Eddie and Kickstand.

If you're that close - you might just as well swing out this way and I'll personally take you on a guided ride up PCH and the rest of my "neighborhood" for as long as you have time to enjoy. That offer goes for the rest of you guys - I'd be happy to try and make sure your time here was as safe and pleasant as possible. Disney land is only 5 miles away in one direction and the beach is 8 miles away in the other direction. Wouldn't be the first time I played tour guide - been out here since 1986, with the exception of 1994-5 back in NY. With all this touring talk I'm starting to get the jones for a trip my self...

Not that all you guys aren't worth it but if I dip down to further south it'll pinch away at the 5weeks I have to use. I figure it'll take me at least 6 days to get to Helena,MT(2388Miles). Another 2-3 days to get to Dawson Creek (936 miles and the begining of the ALCAN) and then 1450-1500 miles to Fairbanks, a possible nother 4-5 days. I am not familiar with road and weather conditions of the ALCAN but they sound ominous. Water and hard pack usually equals slick. Either way you do the math it'll take aprox a minimum of 2 weeks to get there, 2 weeks to get back and I'll have a week in case of incidentals(repairs),weather or my calculations are off. Not a chance taker here, I'm all about murphies law If anyone wants to rendezvous in Helena,MT...............
