BI63 is the touring guru, but I will throw out my 2 pesos. Two or three hours of riding is not bad in between stops. If you are averaging 60 mph, that's 120 to 180 miles between stops. That is a good pace. Sitting in the same position for a long period time is gong to be uncomfortable after a while, no matter how you slice it. Some folks use the beadrider https://www.beadrider.com/ . I have never used it but some irobbutts and HokaHey guys swear by them. Now some have told me the mustang seats are the best... or the other brand that I can't remember... and someone told me about a guy in california that will custom make the seat to your ass. I can get his contact info if your interested.

For me, the highway pegs help a bunch.

If you're tall enough and you got the bucks nothing beats the Air Zepplin. Or a little more low budget.... keep your seat and get the air hawk..its worth every penney

Skoosh makes a gel pad for bikes, J&P has a big list of seats that will fit your bike, with a few reviews.
I still have the stock seat on my flhx. I've been looking for a new seat myself. There are times I can ride all day with no discomfort
and other days it feels like I've been beat with a 2x4. Good luck with your search.

What was the problem you were experiencing?
I've taken many long trips, some for weeks on end and never had a problem. I go so far, i get tired or need to stretch and I stop get off walk around the bike look it over - touch my toes a couple times get back on and continue. From what I can gather from your post, what you are experiencing is normal for all riders. We all get off every now and so often to stretch - I'm in my 50's - maybe back 20 years ago when I needed to be someplace in a hurry I'd ride tank to tank. NOW, I ride ache to pain...LOL

There are a multitude of preparations that go into touring. Starting at all the contact points between rider(s) and motorcycle. First starting with skin contact - wearing breathable - wicking - soft - comfortable clothing is first and most important. Once dressed properly, address gear. Boots are more energy absorbing than lesser foot wear, meaning they absorb more vibration from the road and bike, this results in less fatigue. Leather also in jackets and outer pants absorbs more vibration. Wind is what you are protecting your self from the buffeting is what causes the vibrations and fatigue. Full finger - protective and padded palm gloves are very important. Proper Eye and Ear protection.

I've tried bicycle padded shorts under my jeans a couple of times - it does make a difference.

If you are dressed and geared properly and the seat on the bike doesn't fit you or your passenger then look into a different style/size/design/material.

I've been riding the stock saddle for 18 years, its normal to need to get off and stretch. Just cause the bike has enough gas to go so many hours doesn't mean you have to stay on it the whole time.

I hope this helps.

Unlike my 2001 Ultra which I changed out th seat I find the 2012 just fine. I do have an air hawk seat pad(air filled bladder) for multiple day/week rides.
