That's the stuff- my dog got out overnight and in the morning I could smell him through the closed windows and doors... and yes I had to give him the bath... P U!!

I've seen in person a deer through a windshield just like that - years ago - we drove past an accident scene with the cops and ambulances and road flares and on the side of the road was a very similar scene with the hind of a deer sticking out.
A horse must weigh 10 times what a deer does...

Riding home from work after midnite last nite I come around the bend on the rural road home and just out of the bend on the flat are 2 adolecent deer just standing in the middle of the road looking at me. I always kinda ride with an expectation of that so I was able to break and gear down safely...they moved at the last minute. I imagine I could have reached out and touched them.

Part of the problem is flat landers move up here and post their property for no hunting...not good.

In my old house I would have deer in my yard a lot. I lived in a residential area, but everyone had big yards (2 to 5 acres). No hunting went on that I know of.

Someone who moves up here to the mountains from the low lands. Usually and w/out exception they are rude and over bearing.

I really think that DEER love to Mess with motorcycles. I had it happen to me and incidents like this where they seem to challenge or not move out of the way quickly adds more to my theory.

You really think that the deer are smart enough to "hang out" on posted land? There are ways around that (legal ones)- if you're inventive. I'm sure those days are numbered too.



No hunting anywhere near residential areas in most states. We used to go out on state land - miles of wilderness - stray bullets can't fly through someones kitchen window. Certain counties were shotgun only (closer to civilization), others hunting rifles were allowed the farther out lands.

Since you mention that 2 things come to mind....I notice deer move in different directions when its not hunting season then when it is hunting season. And #2 you get a long rural street and parcel of land to parcel of land is linked by no hunting signs up here that adds up to large land mass of no hunting. Out here people own land in clumps of 20,50 and 200+ acres. I have a humble 12 acres in the middle of someones 1000 acres.

Yeah thousands of acres of refuge can keep the populations high.

The deer harvest by hunters here in Missouri is approximately 250,000 per year. Here's to a successful hunting season!!!!
