Well...got up at 0700 hrs Friday morning, hit the road at 0730 hrs. Fog as dense as anything I've ever seen. Couldn't see 10 feet in front of me and that was on the interstate. That was spooky. It did finally burn off by about 0915 hrs.

First leg of the ride is a 10 mile stretch of country road to the interstate. Then its 60 miles on I-89 to I-93 for 10 miles to I-293 for a couple then to Everett TPK for about 35-40 miles, then 495 for 40 miles to I-290 for 30 miles to state rt 146 for 15 miles and back to country roads to my moms house.

The trip toook me thru Concord and Manchester,NH, then the out skirts of Boston and finally thru Worcester,MA. Other then the fog the ride in took 3 1/2 hours instead of the normal 3 hours because of the fog. Traffic was moderate to heavy thru Concord,Manchester, the loop around Boston and Worcester. Concord,Manchester,outer Boston and worcester were like I said moderate to heavy traffic, all in all typical.

I stacked wood from 1100 hours to 1400 hours and said good bye and headed home. OMG!! I forgot it was a 3 day weekend plus foliage season. I guess everyone in Mass and CT heads to Maine,NH and Vermont on 3 day weekendsIt took 4 hours to get home. The interstates were 30 mph to stopped. The toll booth(2) were back up for 2 miles each. And people were driving like aholes. MASS drivers suck. They are mean, rude and in a god awful hurry. The ride did not open up for me until the last 60 miles of the ride home on I-89. At one point on I-495 the traffic would come to a dead stop for no apprent reason that I could see. Once when that happend I was in the middle lane (there is 3 lanes. I prefer the far right but because of the congestion and no wiggle room for cars accessing the highway it was beter to be in the middle lane). Long story short we are tooling along at at least 60mph and I could see the traffic ahead of me brake lights come on. I gear down. The red F-250 loaded with construiction gear to the left of me in the high speed lane did not and all of a sudden all hell breaks lose as he emergently slams the brakes on to avoid hitting th eperson right ahead of him. He didn't see the traffic stop. Black smoke every where,screeching tires and he ended up in the ditch. By virtue of him hitting the brakes it all happened behind me initially but came forward when he evaded to the ditch. Brakes weren't quite doing the job.

I was sure glad when I finally made it home. My mom had called like 3 times because she'd heard on the radio that a motorcycle rider had an accident with an 18 wheeler. I told her not to worry..if that'd been me, I woulda won.

I would of taken 290 to 190 to 2 to 13 run that right up

Let me look at that. The only flaw that comes to mind would be if that was a major leaf peeping route....

Where you catching 13 off'n 2? What town? Never mind I see where 190/2/13 all seem to form at a juncture.

Perusing that route sounds like it would turn a 3 hour ride into 4-5 hours....its only another 40 minutes on a good day,not bad. Thanks, its something to consider.

Up close it looks like once one gets on the rt 13 you go thru small towns and main st which makes for excellent viewing but not to expeditious.

I'll bet Mom, fed ya pretty good for all that work... At least that was how my pop use to "take care" of me when I'd do him a favor. Stacking wood, gotta tell ya - I don't miss it. Nice to know you still got that good son in ya. Glad to hear ya made it back in one piece.

As a matter of fact she did and as always nobodies food is as tasty as moms. Nothing fancy either. Its all natural with basic home spices and cooked on the wood stove.

Stacking wood is a biotch as you know and made even worse when someone won't let you be in the zone to get thru it. She brought over a neighbor and I got to tell you its hard to be enthuisiastically social when theres this big pile of wood still needng to be stacked

Yes i can... and it ain't no fun.

Yes but not everyone would be able to navigate that safely. Takes experience, skill and common sense. Not for the feint of heart. I find it seriously nerve racking at times. And if one does significant touring its difficult to avoid. (Imagine for those whom it is their daily commute )
