Finally got running again last month. Here is my '82 Shovel, mostly finished (are you really ever). The other pictures are a local "blues Fest" that we have once a year. More and more bikes every year. Free music, expensive beer!! That is my Daughter and grand daughter in back of my bike. Still fine tuning but nothing has fell off yet.

This is in Silver City, NM, not far from where you live. You will have to motor on down here next year. it happens every memorial day weekend. i bet we had several hundred bikes this time, plus Barnett's HD came up for a Bike show.

That MN and AZ landscape sometime looks identical, that why I ask it looked almost like somewhere here in AZ. I was trying to think where our Blues and Jazz festival was held here this year.

Nice looking FL. What S&S carb are you using? B or E?

You have electronic ignition still or P/C?

Thanks for sharing. I too have a 1983 FLHS. Loving the new technology to much to revisit the old girl...for now...she's in the back of my mind always.

Thanks, I'm happy with the way it came back together. I
ve got the E shorty on it. Picked up a deal on a used one. With all the mod's that went into the motor, it seems to deliver more responce. Still working on jetting issues. it has been so long since I rode it i forgot where I was at. I'm still too rich, but have an assortment (of jets) to play with. I'm at 6000 ft here and a hundred miles south, east or west, i drop several thousand feet. I'm electronic ignition for now, have a new set of points but don't want to go there.
I've still got the original front windshield and hard bags for the back but I like it just the way it is for now. Only problem is nowhere to put beer!!!

Had a super B on mine from new on the showroom when I bought it I put the Super B on it. Ran really good for 15-18 years and then got a Super E and which is still on it. Like the accelerator pump but still never have been able to dial it in 100% like the Super B.

Whats nice about yours and mines older bikes is that the only thing tech is thge ignisiton and can easily be swapped back and forth from electronic to P/C and on the side of the road if need be,lol.

S&S is an awsome company. When I need to refurb my Super B, I called them, they gave me a reference # and I mailed it in. Shortly afterwards they sent it back all brand new and not that expensive either. Good company. great carb. The only advantage I can find between EFI and Carb is EFI does adjust to the altitude and elevation automatically. That and good on cold starts. I'd rather have S&S then EFI any day. It is what it is now these days. That and throttle by wire(or what ever its called)...so weird.

Roadking, you threw me on the "nacelles", had to figure out what you were commenting on. assuming it is the headlight housing, i cleaned them up with 1500 grit sandpaper and then polished them on a buffing wheel using red rouge. Came out nice and bright. One thing about aluminum, it can be polished to near chrome appearance and I like it better. Did that to the inner and outer primary cases too along with tail light assy.

Yeah that would have been way too easy to just say head light housing... LOL
I have something just like it on mine probably has 20 layers of wax by now, they make the bike IMO.
