The output shaft leaks I guess the dealer tightened it up too tight. Anyone have had this problem and what have you done to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

if it is tranny fluid you have 2 seals there, The drivegear seal which is rought to replace and the quad seal which is easy. saying that the dealer tighten the pulley to much I would go for the quad seal. All you have to do to replace it is remove the pulley then remove the spacer, at this time you should check to make sure it was put in in the correct direction, After that you can use a pick and grap the quad seal. it is like and oring but it is square in the sides and round to fit over the shaft. If you out the drivegear seal putting it back in with the proper seal installer is easy without it, you have to be real carefull not to wreck it, it doesn't take much to cause it to leak, good luck, Deerslayer

I had a similar problem, leaves a couple drops every where I go but not more so I just left it alone and check the fluid level often. I carry a newspaper and a rock for my persnickety friends driveways...

The quad seal is real easy, difficult ton see how it does anything, all you do is slide it over the shaft then put the spacer back in with the tapered end toward the seal. The spacer is what the pulley ends up against, that is why if the dealer caused the problem by overtightning the pulley nut it might screw up the quad seal. The drivegear seal is a little tougher to put in unless you have the installer, then it is easy. The way I do it is to freeze the seal for a few hours in your freezer, then start it into the case then you can carefully tap it evenly into the case, and end it with the same recess that the one you removed had. That is one of the hard parts. If you had a piece of pvc with the same diameter you can use that to press it in. The recess is important, I don't think the manual has that measurment. The tool has the recess built in and works easy.

just took out my transmission, looked at the quad seal from the inside, now I see how it works. Very simple very well.

Well what happened was that the dealer tightened up the drive belt too tight and that is what made it leak. I have had this happen to me on other bike too not just harleys.
