I'm interested in replacing the stock 17" wheel on my 08 FXDB
First to get rid of this oddball tire size & also to drop me down lower.
Any comments, opinions

I guess if you're going to a smaller size, common sense dictates that you'll have more clearance all the way around. If you go wider you need to measure all points before you make any changes. I'd keep in mind that with a smaller tire size you might want/need to change out the sprocket to keep your gearing the same and also the speedometer accuracy.

One other thing - ground clearance in corners and leaning. As the tire gets smaller you loose clearance and low hanging things, pegs - frame and such get closer to the ground.

I've been told that sprocket replacement is not necessary for this swap,& due to the fact I worked at my Dad's speedometer shop in the first 3 decades of my life I was aware of the calibration issues. Thanx for the input, I have learned one thing as have begun to mature slightly. Taking the time to research a little bit & not going off half cocked is usually a lot less stressful.

I don't think that you are alone on that one. Problem is we all get so excited and rip everything apart and then guess what the parts that we thought would fit don't and it all became a make work project. Thanks for that little add brings me back down to earth. Anyway glad that you got the answers to your question.

I was wondering what size tire you plan on using as a replacement?
