Have my 82 FLH tore down and starting to go back. It's easy to tear them down but now the work begins. Don't know who out there is familar with these oldies, but question is; the release lever that the clutch cable attaches to goes to a shaft and into the transmission (4-speed), is there a spring that I have to capture in the trans, otherwise, there is no return on the clutch lever at the handlebars. I heard something snap on dissmantle, I can go into the side cover at the left side of the tranny to access this shaft without much problem, but do I have to.

I have three of them, and nowhere does it address this issue, or pictures. I'm realln not sure if I am dealing with an internal spring or what, but something has to return the clutch lever

I thought the springs are in the clutch pack.

Your right , Glider!! Called my buddy Gibb, from Farmington, a long time shovelhead rider, and he said the same thing. When i install my clutch, it pushes aginst the pushrod and takes care of it. Not knowing what I'm doing has never stopped me from doing it anyway. When I get it back together and RUNNING, I'll know a hell of a lot more tnan I do now. Did the same thing once with the trans on an old 8-N tractor, rebuilt the whole back end on it. Thanks for the help. I'm sure I will have more questions.
Dave
