I like the 72.The only thing they could do to improve it is to put a springer front end on it. :icon_tea:

Well, I like the looks of the Captain America bike, but I doubt any of us could handle +50 miles on it. Hence the 48 and the 72. You darn mear have to rebuild the entire suspension and replace the seat to make the bike useable.

As an owner of a bike with that peanut tank, just about the time you shake the cobwebs out of your noodle, the fuel warning light goes on. You'd better drive directly to the nearest gas station, as EFI bikes have no reserve.

The 3.3 Sportster tank mimics the peanut, but it is shaped more like a banana. If they would make a new 3 gallon peanut using the same ratio proportions, you could have more fuel but the same sleek lines. Harley has a 'deep draw' facility, and it's easily possible.

the schwinn had a springer front end... ah boyhood memories, its starting to grow on me. I sat on it again yesterday and each time I see it I start to like it more...

I thought about your comment. In the style department, it has merit. From a cost position, I doubt people would pay the cost. If I'm not mistaken, a chrome MoCo springer costs 4K.

Before I bought Spinner, I often debated with friends on when/if MoCo should bring out a CVO Sportster. Granted, the cost would be +15K for such a bike. If superior parts were to be used, I'd buy one. But I doubt they would sell many of them in total.

That Custom 1200 is about as close as we're going to get. I'm not in the market for a 'touring anything,' but the convenience of more fuel is tempting. And to be sure, with this many guns in the house, the phrase, "Honey, I just bought a third Harley!" might be my last words spoken.

Contrast that idea to the 72 and I also feel a transparent glammed up Sportster is a waste of money. It doesn't really prvide any additional performance or comfort or driving distance. It's just another infamous MoCo parts bike. Perhaps with two dark custom Sporties they figured a chrome one would have a following.

They should just bring back a traditional Sportster with a redesigned peanut tank, polished features and the 1200cc engine.
