My '94 stock saddle is much different than those that came out after, and the new ones do suck. My saddle was almost 2 inches higher due to frame and thick padding. I have long legs and the extra fits me perfect. I've never had any discomfort with my saddle, had more 12 hour days in the saddle than I can remember...

I would go with the road zepplin seat it is a air seat. The bad thing about gel seats are if you go to a place where it is hot the gel can get hot and it is worse that a stock seat. If you check with you local Harley shop they may let you put a few seats the have in stock on your bike and let you feel them before you shell out the money on something you dont like.

Has anyone tried the Sundowner? I was told that was one of the most preferred. My stock saddle on my 2012 SG hurts my back after about an hour, and not real comfortable for a 2up.

I have an answer, but you won't like it.
A few years back I bought a Sportster. You know, the kind that had the worst seat and shocks in the history of motorized transportation. Additionally, my weight had doubled since I was in the motorcycle club. Oh, I was lifting daily since the age of 27, got good medical check-ups, but it was the 'number' that troubled me.
So I changed my diet--drastically. I went to a gym trainer and got their house version of the P90X program. And my daily trip to the gym was now hurt and pain and agony. Fortunately I did not drink or smoke and my aerobic health was excellent. And I would need it for my regimen now.
I lost 70 pounds in less than three months. I've kept it off for over two years. Now I cannot even stand the smell of greasy cheeseburgers, bacon or fat. My blood pressure dropped by 40 points.
Interesting thing. I found that MoCo 'now' makes saddles and shocks for guys my weight. New blue jeans aren't just blue canvas bags anymore (I'm a 38-32 now), but clothes that fit and look good. In adding 14 notches to my old belt, I now have the choice of warm, better fitting stuff, and a bike that is actually comfortable to ride.
Go to the gym. Nobody needs to weigh 300 pounds. It's going to hurt. But, hey, bikers claim to be be tough. Besides, if you get a comfortable saddle you'll find no excuse to stop from going to 320, then 340, then +450. Nip it now.
There are 14 black memorial bricks at my club's new clubhouse. One of them is from inter-club wars. Three are from bike wrecks. But ten of them are health related. Too much smoking, drinking and eating. These guys died between the ages of 45 and 60. By those numbers, I should have been dead two years ago, I'll be 62 soon. Now my doctor says my blood numbers are better than his. He's 38 years old.
