Let me jump start it a bit. Here are a few pic's of my '07 883L that I used to create my own "48". (Oh well, image limited here...maybe you can browse the album)

What mods were done to the motor? I see the S&S air cleaner cover. Did they build the engine, or did you use some of their parts?

No mods to the motor other than the S&S air cleaner, exhaust and Race Fueler.

I sure do like your paint and chrome.

I'm one of those idiots that never met a motor he wouldn't putz with. From across the parking lot my little 48 looks stock. In fact, I found out my mechanic gave me an early Christmas present and already installed my oil cooler.

I can't stay off of the thing. Put more miles on the little bike this year than the big bike.

Oh, I did have to fight myself, a bit. My parts guy says my Harley shop carries all of the go-fast parts for the Buell. They also have a very skillful dynamometer team. I'm thinking, I'm thinking...

I tried to do a mix of black and chrome on this one instead of the extreme one way or the other. Just bought a small black luggage rack that follows the contour of the fender. I hate to hang a toolbag off the front and it will allow me to carry some small items neatly.

I have a detachable rack on my 48. I have a few things I strap to it, like one of those round ballistic nylon canisters with a stiff plastic liner to hold the shape. I use it a lot when going to the gym in the peak of summer. It holds all of my clothes, and if I get caught in a summer shower it has the capability to dry pretty quick.

My 48 is not a 'fashion statement.' The things I customized, like that rack, pipes, better air cleaner, new computer download, Progressive shocks, an LED headlight, and the new oil cooler, are all added to make the bike faster, safer, and to enhance my expectations.

I'm also one of those "OCD anal bike polishers." I wipe my bikes down with Bug Slide, Windex and microfiber cloths after each ride. My big bike (Black Betty) is all chromed up, the kind of bike for all day on the slab, and a good long time afterwards with a cool beverage and time to clean and reflect.

The little Sportie takes about ten to fifteen minutes to wipe down, even poking around the swingarm. Some days I just have to putt or run errands, or go to the bike shop for coffee, or see a friend. Moreover, the Sportster reminds me of the bikes I rode as a kid.

I keep eyeballing these bags... https://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Expeditio ... ffels.html ...probably going to end up with a small Expedition and a medium Rolie.

I was thinking about something similar, something that zips and has a handle. If I could mount it securely to the Sportster I could use it as a gym bag.

This summer I used a good sturdy back-pack. It's only eight miles from my home to the gym.
