Yes, it is going to be a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm getting the holiday I enjoy the most!

I hate Thanksgiving. Not only that, my wife's relatives are frakking crazy! Yet another one of her nieces is knocked up. And it's her third baby from the same father--the guy to whom she filed a restraining order. Figure that out. Tomorrow my wife leaves with her sister for over 18 peaceful hours.

Now, I still get well-meaning invitations for a Thanksgiving dinner. I politely decline by stating that I cannot attend since my parents are here. True story.

They are here. Where they have been for several years. On a shelf. In an urn...

Ha ha most people will read your post about hating TG and state oh what a horrible man! I too am uncomfortable with all holidays. I don't know why, I think I have an idea. Its not horrible to be uncomfortable with holidays. I don't get depressed I just don't want to be bothered about it. I have children and a spouse who fusses over all of it so I give the holiday du juor its due delligence when they arrive. I work when I can on holidays. As a matter of a fact I am working 8-8 on TG. Its win-win. I get away from the holiday hoopla, another co worker who loves TG gets to spend it with his/her family and I get the PT/holiday pay.

I'm not depressed, per se, but it is an element of my opinion.

I'm Bipolar II, and this time of the year is when the manias (and the joy and 'fire') seem to diminish. Frankly, I enjoy the wild ride of the manias. I am a good friend and a bad enemy, and living on the edge is quite stimulating. I also have a touch of SADs. In fact, I have a 'full spectrum' light over my sharpening area and it helps both in being busy and elevating my mood.

My relatives are either dead or scattered, and I literally have no family. I never liked them anyway, and being told where to go and what to eat always pissed me off, even as a child. I'm going to the gym early, eat a chicken salad and watch the Packers vs. Lions game. I intend to take in as much football as I can stand and bask in the mirrored edge of a new Mantis "Pit Boss" I polished for my own use yesterday.

You can pick your nose, but you can't pick your relatives. And this explains why I have always liked the Puritans better than the Pilgrims.
