It shows trends quickly. Knife magazines might come out eight to ten times per year and then show only three of four letters to the editor. However I did sell several ZT0777s to a well heeled client because of the magazines. The sharpening aspecct is usually shown in forums. Forums are a necessary evil.



For me it was a bit more than that. I was new in town, going to college for the first time and I never had a real mentor back in Milwaukee. I often wonder if I would have become a choir member there if I had stayed. Who knows.

In a very real sense, the club became my family. Forums, however, are 90% a waste of time for me. I've made three long term friends, but I have gotten banned more than a dozen times and asked moderrators to disconnect me almost as many times.

When I fully retire I wonder if I will sign on at all.

You know what would be fun but unrealistic...is to make a list of all the keyboard commando admins and moderators who were aholes and take a summer to personally go visit each one and have a face to face about why? I have the addresses and locations of all the ones on my list. There would maybe be 10 between us as some are the same ones. You could label the quest as "The back peddling and groveling festival",lol.

Reality show? Other than lower me to the sub-human status of a Kardashian, it would seem a colossal waste of premium fuel. If I have to burn gasoline senselessly, wouldn't it make more sense to ride to each state and get a sample of that area's colonoscopy? I mean, just for fun...

The mods and admin that fit your category were 'little Hitlers.' By their prose it was clear that they clung to this status in forums primarily because they always got picked last in softball. Either that or they harbor deep resentment for leaving their bedrooms to take all of that dryer lint to the curb.

I always made them an offer. If their condemnation of my stance made them that angry, their moms should give them bus money to get to Madison. Biggest small town in the world. One Harley shop. I sit there drinking coffee most afternoons in the breakroom--summer and winter. Why flame me from a distance when you can insult me in person?

I planning on doing that next year sometime with any luck. Don't worry I'm not a senior citizen basher, just flash your AARP card and you're good to go,lol.

LOL. But this does outline something I have noticed.

When I was a boy, the WWII and Korean war veterans looked very old, even elderly. My parents did not smoke, (and it's been decades since I was even in a smoky room) but when they threw parties the house was clouded by a thick blue haze from the smokers. Everyone drank hard liquor and very few people worked out. In fact, when jogging was first started, people made jokes about it. The only people who ran were boxers doing "road work" for bouts.

Times changed. The most dangerous man I knew was 64 years old. I don't look 61, and in fact, I still get hit on by young girls at the gym. Yesterday I did 2 hours and 2 minutes on The Gaunlet machine, burning 3106 calories. Go google that machine, it's a backwards escalator, and it's painful to use. I lifted so hard last week that I pulled a lat. I've been seriously working out--every day--since 1979.

That's only part of the story. I think the reason that these idiots flame is that they know they'll always be safe in the deep, dark and dank recesses of their mom's laundry room. And while I've never thrown an offensive punch, I know that it's always a drunken townie who causes trouble. A chairborne ranger never even attempts to say anything without liquid courage. If left alone, I'm the jokester of the choir. If left alone...

Locking threads? I thought we were against locking threads?

Normally I would agree, I dislike locking threads. It conveys the idea of censorship.

But if you and I are going to be credible mentors, then we have to show younger guys that ideas like restraint and fairness apply to us, as well. We made a point here on this topic. We debated it fairly and we vented. Then we made light of the matter.

It's time to sincerely demonstrate that people need to drop an issue at some point and move on. This is as good as any teaching opportunity we are going to get.

Tourist,no offense but I don't care about teaching, being an example etc... If a thread is undesireable to anyone they don't have to post or view it,its that simple.

If this was me and you sitting in a choir bar sharing a thirst quenching lemonade I would wax graphically about this clown's sphincter and a very sharp stiletto. However, at some point my desires run headlong into the rules of a public forum.

Let's be honest here. We're not really fooling HeadMaster and RK. They own and run computers for a living. You think they cannot run background checks on both of us? They know exactly who we are, actually let us stay, and seldom rebuke either one of us. You take from life, you give back at some point.

For three pages they let us discuss an issue which is the rule in modern forums--it's you and I that are the Jurrasic exception to the modern custom. I vented because the little pukes got to me while I knew that they will never come within a surveyor's plumb-bob of my shadow for honest revenge. That's life in modern times, blood.

So what's the answer? Well, I had some terrific mentors. And if these same little pukes are ever going to get out of their mom's basement, then they will need some mentors, too. And my advice of "Insert the stiletto here" might not always be correct. Forums suck, and they are getting worse. What should we do?
