As you know, this charity--replete with website--has posted a raffle here. Several of us are mad about it.

As one of the long time members here, I'm careful on posting business related threads. I even have asked you for direction in the past.

If this guy is legit, don't you think he should have approached Headmaster first, gotten permission or at least have Headmaster start a thread?

I do not like being told what to do and what to think in a hobbyist forum by some some clown who tracks mud on our carpets. I don't care if this idiot represents Mother Teresa's Charity and is selling off Audie Murphy's personally autographed underwear. If we the members have to play by the rules, so do outside schmucks.

HM, I'm not sure if this guy is legit or some scammer. But I do know this, I signed on, and this guy came out of left field. To my knowledge neither you or RK knew he was here, pre-approved the charity, or provided guidelines on how any charity and HRF would work together.

Perhaps he might now approach you, iron out the issue or simply disappear. I have no problem any-which-way. But I also signed on to West Coast Bikers about the same time and found four spam threads for leather handbags. Yikes...

I have been out for the day and just checked the forum. We at the forum support charities and want to help but like anything else we need to know who they are and need permission to post here. Thanks for all the members help.

Headmaster, several days have now passed and I do not see any responses or re-application under forum rules. Now, he might be sending you PMs working out a deal, and if that is the proper procedure to do this thing all over again, sobeit. LOL, I get slack, maybe he should, too.

One aspect stands out--most of the "usual suspects" here have come to know each other. We even talk on the telephone. We have established a background. And we all do charity work which utilizes prizes and donated items. I am in the process of doing so right now.

For example, a moderator I know very well is a front man for a cutlery lobby group. I approached him to be a supporter to donate prizes in a drawing to raise money. No biggee here, we all do it.

The problem for me was in approaching their national administrator. Granted, I got in the door easier because I knew someone, but I am now being vetted none the less. And we all have to do that, too. In the old days I volunteered at a vets' hospital by walking in the front door--now I was fingerprinted. Sign of the times.

This entire mess could have been avoided if the opening post was, "Headmaster and/or RK approve this charity." This was not done. I hope such matters will change in the future, even for this same guy.

Generally we will only let non-profit organizations post their fundraisers here. If they contact me or if I see that they are legit I will let them keep their post. I am in no way wanting to let our forum become a wastebasket for anyone to post whatever he or she wants. This is a Harley enthusiast website and we take great strides to keep it clean and on point. We don't ban or warn we delete. I hope that this clarifies our policy.
