I was hoping for a bit more myself. Today was a tad cooler, but Betty had to stay parked, I had to meet with a client. Tomorrow rain is forecast, then a lot cooler. My riding season might be over and I don't know it yet.

*sigh* Sadly, yesterday afternoon I rode Betty down to the bike shop and surrendered her for seasonal modifications and winter storage. Considering the outcome, it was a pleasant ride. My wife and I left the shop after the paperwork and sat in a coffee shop and mused away the rest of the afternoon.

Not a bad season, overall. I didn't get to ride as much as I did last season, but enough to wear out a tire. Most of those miles were accomplished in the last 2/3s of the season due to heavy rains which just wouldn't go away. And I must report not one mile was run up after dark. That has never happened before.

Due to starter problems on Spinner, the last few weeks centered on Betty and a decent sized ride to our north--looking for my 'missing road.' I got to know the ol' girl once again. While I admit that in my heart I'm a "Sportster guy" while I've only owned four of them, Betty is one of the best big-twin customs I've owned, and I need to keep reminding myself of that.

As yesterday began to fade, my wife and I drove home. As the garage door opened, we pulled my wife's SUV fully forward. There was nothing there--no bikes, no battery tender, no evidence the bikes ever existed. Officially I am now really a "tourist."

And right on time, there was a cold rain falling this morning when I went out to get the newspaper.
