Yikes, I hate that first cold ride!
According to the weather forecast today, it was supposed to be cloudy, cooler and a chance of light showers. I figured I wouldn't get a chance to ride and just blew off the idea. However, when I returned from the gym the sky was blue and the sun was bright. I got a sandwich and headed out onto the highway.
Yikes, about ten miles from home I was chilled to the bone, my ears hurt and the southwestern sky looked downright mean. I did a U-turn at the first available turn-off, got onto the slab and did a frigid twenty miles back home. While the bike is cooling down for a wipe, I grabbed a hot cuppa and now some of my fingers work.
It can't be winter yet, I'm not done having fun!

Yeah I was out monday at 6:30am and it was 38 degrees out. By noon it was a respectable 70+. Of course that was up in Southern NH and then eventually up north in the White Mountains. Rode till 3pm.

The real problem here is that my wife lets me goof off in the summer. It's my time to ride and work when I feel like it. In the winter, I have to "put my nose to the grindstone." Literally. This morning I had to polish two knives and get them to UPS before I went to the gym.
Frankly, I don't like being an adult.

We've had another few days of chilling rain and I haven't ridden. The local news says that after today we should be warming up a bit and the rain will stop. Hopefully I'll get some cruising time in before the hammer falls.
Which brings up the eternal question, "How long should I wait until I move the bikes to the shop's winter storage area?" When is one more day too much, and I have to wear a parka just to limp into the shop?
This Sunday a friend and mine and I will once again look for the "mysterious road" I traveled--and lost--about seven years ago. We had some bad flooding then and many roads were washed out. We wonder if that road even exists. Lots of land and four large summer homes fell right into the deluge and flat out disappeared.
But it might be a nobel excursion for Betty's last ride of the season.

its getting pretty chilly at night out here, days are getting short and all the teeny weeny bikinis are gone... Pretty soon the witch of November will be upon you, and once that happens winter isn't very far behind. Ever consider a snow mobile?
You can have it cheap. You can have it fast. You can have high quality. PICK ANY 2....

Snowmobile? Yikes, I'm not that old and not a drunk! Both are required here in Wisconsin.
I rode today for the first time, and I'm going out again in a few minutes. You have to beat the rush hour idiots, or find back roads to get home...

Can you say "Indian Summer"? This weekend was the best. I had to work but got off at 4pm and each day I would be gone from 4pm-8pm and on. Last nite me and the missus head South on the Interstate then cut inland about 30 miles down. Motorcycles were every where and in droves. We stopped at a quaint little town called Chester,VT and ate at "Alices rstaurant", it was either that or "Moon Dog Cafe",lol. It was very good. And then headed home. Its was a small 70 mile jaunt but it was one of those days to remember. Warm with slight hint of cool crisp in the air.....fall like.

Yup, Indian Summer. For the past few days we've had high 70s and mid-80s. I'm out the door right now in a jean jacket. Gotta dance guys, I'll be back tonight.

Happy to at least be riding to work to save on gas for now. Its only about 20-30 minutes one way but its scenic back roads and a few minutes to collect my thoughts.
Hoping to get a 4-500 mile ride in on Monday. Riding season is pretty much over here starting November 1st. Not so much the cold as black ice starts appearing.....
