I notice that when I flip on the computer in the morning there are always two or three new members who post an introduction--and then we never hear from them again.

I, for one, would like to hear about their bikes and their experiences. The things that happen to them are most likely to be the same events and mechanical issues we all face. We can share info, find new areas in which to ride or even just bittch.

In my area we have three Harley shops. We have Sauk Prairie HD in Sauk City, we have Cutters in the Janesville area and my home shop Capital City HD in Madison. I have never met one of you guys despite the area that covers.

I did meet MadCity, a moderator at another forum, and we still phone each other and ride together. A guy named Locutus from a knife sharpening forum has even become a close friend.

Come back, guys! We want to hear from you!

Edit: I should also mention that Badinfluence63 and I have even become simpatico. We have unique similarities in our past lives, and those telephone calls are always a joy--it's our mutual schedules that suck! I met him here.

Thanks, Lenny. There are many times when I feel I'm talking to myself.

This is a great forum. For the first time in many years I feel I'm actually talking to guys who really own motorcycles. As I've stated, one moderator elsewhere told me that fully 30% of his membership was outright posers and liars.

But my take on this is a lot more basic. When I have a great ride, or find a new custom part or procedure or simply want to vent, I want to tell someone! I want to share the experience (or the anger) with guys who know bikes, not some poser hiding out in his mom's laundry room.

Here's an example. Yesterday it looked like rain in Madison. The day before we had a powerful thunderstorm come through here--and I mean hail, incredibly loud thunder claps and flooded streets. With that in mind, I gassed up Spinner, put on a pair of Harley's new waterproof boots and took a short spin. But after the loop, I got home before anything hit.

Think of the usual "after the ride" ritual many of us share. It would have been nice to share a cold one in my garage with a friend--but being retired, my buddies work during the day. As I wiped down the Sportster, think of what we might have shared.

For example, how where the roads, what loop did I take, what did gas cost that day, did the boots work and feel like "normal ones"? Did I get new modifications? How did the the winter mods actually enhance performance? How were the cagers? Planning any day trips...

In many cases a bull-session might last until the divorce threats start sounding serious. That atmosphere should also play out here.

Edit: BTW, those boots are seen here on the left. I had to putz around to get them to lace on to my personal comfort, and "no" they don't feel like the traditional "Havoc" style. Once on they were okay, and they do have a place in our sport.

The best part of this forum:
there isn't endless Bullspit to wade through to get to the good stuff.
Granted I only get here now and then but the content is always A+.
You might not get an instant message back but eventually someone
gets back. I know eventually the "OTHERS" will find this place but right now I think its the best Harley Forum out there. You can tell.

Oh, I agree. Folks are here because they want to be. I see intelligent questions and an attitude much like you'd find at a local saloon where you can let your hair down.

I like to come here to to biitch to someone who understands, or to show-off a new chrome cover or just share my days--whether that's a long hard ride or just soaping up the girls. (Or even when I wash my bikes.) :icon_laughing:

As many of you know, I went through my 'favorites' and I dumped every forum I was sadly a part of. Now I come here, and to one sharpening forum. In truth, all knife forums are run by know-nothing children. I'm not sure some of these clowns even own knives, much less sharpen them. Too many tactical discussions from guys who haven't thrown a punch since grade school.

To me "social networking" is polishing your chrome and then sitting in the bike shop breakroom for coffee and laughs. I'm caring less and less about 'the world.'

still seems like a good place to hang your hat, even if you only get to drop by from time to time...

It looks like we got some newer members and they are using the forum more often. I like to see that. My hope is that when the season ends for some of us in the northern climes people stay around. It would be great to see people still riding, or news on winter modifications or info on new products.

Personally, I have nothing big planned, except for an oil cooler, it would be great to hear about some bigger projects. Oh, and I'd like to find a plug-n-play air horn made out of metal... :icon_bang:

Hi Folks, well it feels good & friendly here. As some of you know, I am new to this forum, & have come back to riding after a long old break. Plastic encased bikes, killed my spirits & put me off, but some years later I had a brainwave. That was in the shape of my 22yr old sporty.
So I am more than happy to share stories/ideas etc, when I get some, & hope that although being in the good old blighty, we will find that cow crap on my roads, is just as slippy as yours ! :icon_eek:

Safe wheels my friends.
