Hello new here and really am looking to figure out which Harley to go with first. I currently ride an R6 and am looking to go back to cruisers and really want a Harley but am extremely confused as to which is right for me. I like the Nightster and the small nimble size of the sportster family but also really like the Dyna Superglide and Low Rider. Just really looking to see if I want the big twin or the quick response of the sportster. Of course the dealer and most of my friends that have bikes are telling me to go with the big twin but I also know some guys that swear by their sportsters. I don't plan on any really long rides maybe few hundred in a day when I ride but no overnighters as I still have little ones at home. Looking for opinions from as many people as I can. And thanks in advance for any and all info.

Hey Jack... welcome from Germany! Had two Sporties before I got my first Dyna and I never want the Sporties back. The Street Bob is much easier to handle and more comfy. The first Sporty I had was a 1200 Sport and it was really cool...but just for bar hopping. The best would be to ride both before you decide.......... good luck!

some sage advise from MrsB...

Get the one you like after you try them out first. I went to an event last spring at one of the local HD Dealerships where you could ride any of the bikes, I tried out at least 4 of them. Check into your area dealers and see if they have anything like that planned.

Thanks for the info. I talked to one of my buds today and he is going to let me try his sporty out but his is an 883 with the 1200 kit but will at least give me an idea.

Buell makes some very cool bikes based on the sporty...
I don't know if you need/want a brand new one but if you're looking into used bike also check them out too.

I want a cruiser style bike. I like the Buells for torque but want to lay back a lil while I ride. I am currently riding a crotch rocket and while it is fun blasting around at 10-15 thousand RPMs just ready to relax and carve the corners. But I really appreciate the thought of something different.

while cruisin down the freeway yesterday I saw a cool sporty, all blacked out, looked new, don't know the model name...
it had a springer front fork.

There are several custom shops putting springer front ends on the sportsters. Never dealt with a springer before so have no idea how it would handle but they look pretty good.

Some good advice here...

In my case, I found my Superglide used. it's a 2000, I bought it in '05, with only 7K on the clock. And MrsB is right... my (much older Dyna) is as comfortable as an old shoe.

Big Twin cruiser for not much $.

But ride 'em all. It's a buyers' market nowadays. Anf good luck.
