Hey HDRIDER1401 Welcome to the forum. See that you have a problem with a shop. You can bet I will never do business with them. How about putting a plug in for the forum in your mag? Lenny

If successful we'll have every poser and "Wild Hogs" suburbanite in here asking where to buy discount apehangers. Besides, we seem to be plagued by a bunch of newbs who sign up and disappear. RK loves that...

Kidding aside, I like this forum for what it stands for--guys who actually own bikes and ride. While that might sound obvious, most bike forums attract posers. As you know a local mod says that 30% of the members of his forum don't ride. They all discuss it, making them abject liars, to me.
We might be small, but we know each other here. You can come to Madison and ask for me by my first name at the shop. They'll know where I am. I like that. You should like that. If we ever caught a poser here the entire forum would make sure he never posted here again.
Now, I welcome newbs. We were all newbs. The difference is that they are sincere and really ride. They might ride poorly, but then, we should be mentors.

I think it might be a good idea to get the word out and get traffic up, even if we get inundated with idiots there is 70 percent still riders and tourist could finally get those chew toys he's been hankering for. Besides having some new blood will bring back some of the old members that got bored and forgot this place.. anyway thats just my 2 cents.
You can have it cheap. You can have it fast. You can have high quality. PICK ANY 2....

Sure, I'd like some traffic here--the right traffic.
Suppose your observation is correct, RK, and we get 70% in 'real bikers.' Then we also get 30% in posers. But why would they be here?
Along with that crowd will come spammers, guys selling crappy bike parts, trolls, and other self-serving agendas. You'll spend most of your time policing the place. Then the "rules" will come, and perhaps another mod to keep order...
And when that happens we'll get "the bozo effect." The very guys you want will start signing on less, or just selectively lurking or searching for another home. You'll be stuck with just the 'bozos.' You cannot foul the water at one end of the pool and then expect clean water at the other.
The other way is slower, but more effective. We look for good guys, treat them well. Encourage newbs. Be good mentors. Toss spammers. Shun guys with agendas. Perhaps ban a few problematic idiots.
You know, the exact way bikers act in the real world...

The cooking forum keeps me in touch with industry trends. But I have to be honest, it's become a giant pain in the keester. I think this forum appeals to guys who have registered at lots of forums over the years. I had come to point where I almost either gave in to the idea of giving up on computers or tolerating idiots, both ideas that really put a kink in my colon.
