Was new to Harley when I bought my '11 Ultra limited but I learn fast. I have the stage 1 air in hand and I'm ordering the Fullsac X pipes and TTS tuner. Now here lies my problem....slip ons. Liked the idea of the fullsac mod for stock mufflers but hate to give them up in case I ever want to put it back to stock.
Steve at Fullsac mentioned finding CVO take offs and doing the mod but haven't found any that would make the mod really any cheaper then a good slip on. Being new to all of this slip on stuff makes the choice difficult but I'm sure there are folks here that might have some good direction. Looking for good low rumble and radio friendly at cruising speed.

I have Screaming Beagle mufflers on both Betty and Spinner. I like the rumble, but I also have a super-tuner on Betty and the new factory download on Spinner. Not only is the tone improved, but the performance is palpable. In Spinner's case, the mufflers are lighter. I know this because I had to carry her stock mufflers down the stairs in my home.
I would advise this, don't make any mods that you think impress the crowd. There isn't one bolt I put on Betty to impress the idiots. Spinner looks box-stock from across the parking lot.
Now granted, I like to downshift under the overpasses before I turn onto the on-ramps (tee-hee), and I know it's a foolish kid thing, but they are my pipes. But when folks ask me why I don't have one of those long front ends on Betty I respond that "Toys-R-Us was out of them that day."
Get the mufflers you want when you want them.

The only reason I changed out my pipes/header was it kept cracking on the 2into1 weld on the right side bottom, my theory: the rubber mounted motor oscillated at a different frequency than the rubber mounted pipe/muffler. I "upgraded" to the thunder header 2into1 that has an "extra" strong (looking) weld. I saved all the parts and mufflers and what a weight savings, probably over 20 lbs. The whole process took about 2 hours on a Sunday with my brother helping by handing me tools and getting the beers. The sound volume is controlled by the throttle, at just going along it's totally mellow rumble but crack it all the way and ... well it is called a "Thunder Header"... I get about the same mileage but the bike feels a little leaner and looks pretty cool with just the one pipe out the back now. The pipe goes out past the saddle bags so the sound is all behind you and probably a good choice for radio and listening.
You can have it cheap. You can have it fast. You can have high quality. PICK ANY 2....
