I ride a 2005 Electra Glide Classic and I am thinking about lowering the front and the back. Has anyone done this and what are your thoughts. Pros and cons. Thanks

I never did it but with my bike at stock height I'm still missing the backs of my floorboards... I guess if you don't like riding it, it would look cool.

Here is what i did i put harley davidson lower shocks on my 06 ultra. Than i change the front springs that was a mistake. The front end hit really hard so i put stock back in. If you lower the back and it is not enuff i would say get a different seat.

I bought one of those lowering kits that allow you to lower 1,2, or 3 inches. Basically it relocates the bottom shock mount on rear. I set it a 2" inches. What happened after that was, riding 2-up and hitting bumps, the tire would rub on the inside top of the fender. There is a wiring harness that is attached along the rear fender that feeds the tail/brake and rear turn signals. I wound up having to replace that harness and remove the lowering kit.
...and yes, I did check and adjust the pressure in the shocks. Set them at max and still had the rub.

This problem is one heard quite often. Heck, in the early 1970s the whole idea of the Lowrider touted that the seat height was about 24 inches. But there's more here than just shocks and seat heights.
You guys are buying the wrong bikes.
If an inexperienced kid with a fresh drivers license bought a Hayabusa we would all be discussing the foolishness. A female friend of mine bought a Road Glide, and on her first ride, a bunch of guys had to help her push it backwards to park it.
Being in control of any vehicle is a solemn responsibility for any operator, not just bikers. If you cannot reach the ground, or the pedals, or lack upper body strength to roll around the bike, you are on the wrong vehicle.
Frankly, it's a matter of ego, not a 'yearn for the highway.' You want to ride the big bikes, like your friends. The issue is your inseam measurement. My guess is that you cannot dunk a basketball, either. If you're grinding off the fender wiring and the bike still doesn't function, you need to re-think the entire idea, not criticize the bike.

I wouldn't mind a little more lean angle on my bike, the backs of the floor boards are worn off and the frame has flat spots from getting (ground off)... Now I understand why they call it that... but I can keep up with sport bikes out in the canyons so don't go by me. I also load my bike with camping gear and go out into the old logging roads in Kings Canyon so I like not completely bottoming out on the way in and out. Anyway, you might just want to go farther and harder someday so make the mods reversible.
