I'm 52. I've been on two wheels since the mini-bike a long time ago.
30 years ago I did the "bar to bar" showin' off thing like everyone else.
Then I found there's a whole lotta roads in our great country.
I drove them for 30 years in a "bigtruck" and on many motorcycles. Triumph, Honda,Beemers,Guzzis and a bunch of Harleys.
My ride of choice now (& maybe my last) is an '04 Electraglide Classic draggin a '09 Bushtec trailer.
This bike, my wife & I have logged (so far) 72 thousand worry free miles.
Just stopped by here and other sites to see what the rest of the world is up to.

I think many of the guys here are just tired of usual bike forum BS. As I have stated before, a moderator I ride with opines that fully 30% of the 'bikers' on his forum are either posers or outright liars.

(I like to spin a good yarn now and then, but it's got to the point that when I say I did something I post a picture so as not to be tarred by these guys.)

HRF provides guys like BI63 and me to state an opinion and be brutally honest about it. Yes, I've received PMs from the brass here, but it's been about things that have actually happened, not about flaming other members or spamming about my business. My philosophy on forums is that you speak on a keyboard just as you would in real life.

And my overall belief is that real bikers are just normal guys, we just have a loud, flashy hobby. We work, we have wives, we have stupid childish pasts and we came out the other end as responsible men. I feel so lucky that I found this place, and if I get pulled up short by the brass once per month, sobeit. It is also the story of my life in the virtual world. Value this place guys, it is a singular experience.

Howdy and welcome to the forum. I've seen bikes pulling trailers and I've got a question about the trailer, I understand all the pro's - having all that extra room for bringing stuff but what are the trade offs? Mileage, handling, safety???

i pull a trailer behind my Ultra from time to time and it is great. It does need a little more time to pull away, and a little more stopping distance. when you are on the road you will forget it is there. Infact, it will add a little stabulity to your ride. It will hold a shit load of beer and all of the crap your old lady wants to drag along on a weekend run. It will also bring the tent and sleeping bag and if you are so inclined a little honda generator... for the fan!

How about where the trailer hitch connects to the motorcycle? does it mess up the paint?
How bad does it hit the gas mileage? Wear and tear on the bike/engine/drive train?

the hitch does not touch the paint. in fact it is all chrome and is not something you would notice. it does not have a big effect on the mileage. My butt needs a break by the time i need gas so i never check mileage... if you just pay attention to the fact that you have it back there i do not see it as any kind of problem.

Sounds like we need a trailer thread...
