Friends from Florida met me at Gatlinburg, TN and the following morning we ran the Tail of the Dragon (Rt 129) from the north side. Many of you are familiar with it and have done the ride...this was my first time. The 11 mile stretch has 318 curves through the west side of the Smokies. The weather was perfect - clear and dry! Stopped at Deal's Gap for refreshments and a TOD tee shirt. Took the Foothills Parkway to 129 that is also an awesome bike route. The TN,NC,GA mountais are some of the best motorcycle routes in the country if you haven't experienced them yet. Attached are some photos (here or in the albums depending on my success!). I didn't label the photos but they include a shot of Fontana Dam near the north end and others at Deal's Gap at the south end. One of them is from one of the 4 or 5 photographers that are setup along the route taking digital shots of all the riders. I ride a 2011 Softtail Convertible.
