OH man, I've heard about people hitting rabbits, squirrels + other critters but never appreciated what it meant until today.

Suicidal thing bounded out onto the road and ran right out in front of me -- it was like it was all happening in slo-mo -- tried to swerve but I was going kinda fast and the silly thing would have been fine but it changed direction. There was a horrible sickening crunchy mushy sound...ugh! Then the crazy thing dodged back and I hit it AGAIN!

I looked in the mirror and saw it squirming in the road, made a U-E and finished it off.... I kicked it out of the road, as I drove off I saw a crow land near it... fresh road kill, I guess everything needs to eat.

Last year I almost got speared by a white tail during the rut... I guess he thought I was trying to muscle in on his lady friend... :icon_twisted:

I hit a smaller critter like that one time. I just slowed best I could and hit it dead on, been told if you swerve you crash. Been told the same thing when about to hit something bigger like a deer. Anybody else out there got an experience?

Oh boy... Yeah, back in the late 70's, I was buzzing home from work out in the country on my bitchin' Honda CJ-360, and a cat ran right out in front of me, stopped and crouched down. No time to react, I hit him with both wheels. When I looked back, he was streaking to the corn field. No idea if I killed him.

This was bizarre- the animal/insect kingdom got back at me... I took a big grasshopper in the face right below the eye. (Had an ild Bell helmet on; no shield, just sunglasses. Well the impact broke the skin, and by early the next morning I had to go to emergency to get a antihistimine shot and antibiotics. Looked like I had a golf ball implanted under there!

Speaking of huge insects...
on a trip into the badlands UTAH bryce canyon I hit something with the mirror and got covered with green guts...
I looked like I got sprayed with bright green spray paint, face... glasses... jacket.... I had to spray off with a garden hose at one of the ranger stations...
Hey Big D, hope you came out of that one OK!! Those "BIG" Grasshoppers aka Locusts, have been causing caos for millenium!!

a few years ago back in texas i hit a dog while doing about 70. wobbled the bike pretty good put didnt go down. it bent the engine guard back pretty bad and knocked my foot off the peg. not sure if the dog made it or not. i saw it run off into the ditch but doubt it made it far. had a few close calls with deer in texas but luckily never connected. ive seen the results of some of those collisions.

Yeah you don't want to hit a deer!!
Deer went up into the windshield of a car and killed the driver on impact, don't want to think about what it'd do to one of use...

hey roadking

great topic... anyone who been riding a day or two has got one of these stories. so... it was 19 70 something and i was flying down the interstate with no helmet and Levis and a thin wife-beater on, i took an insect on the chest and it hurt... but the pain didnt go away . so i looked down and saw a big fat black and yellow bumble-bee stuck on my shirt with its stinger planted firmly in my nipple... i brushed it off but the pain was so strong i was nearing a blackout and barely made it to the side of the road to recoup my senses. hahaha i say today but thought i was gonna pass out that day at 70mph.

the finger at ya as i pass ya

Back in the late 1980's, while traveling from Indiana to Wisconsin, just south of Chicago, I was running about 70-75 mph when I heard a tick, tick, tick, sound. I couldn't make out where it was coming from but, as I continued, the sound started getting louder until it was a thump, thump, thump. It then started to be a slapping sound, and before I knew what was going on, a giant chunk of rubber flew off a semi-trailer about 75 yards ahead of me, flew high into the air, then came right at me, slapped me right across the face, and nearly knocked me off the bike. When I gathered my senses, I pulled into the left lane, cranked the throttle, passed the truck, and motioned for him to pull over, which he did. When I told him what had just happened, he laughed and said "I was wondering how long that thing was going to last!! He then pulled back on the highway and continued on his way with that bad tire without even looking at it!! I was so pissed, I cranked the throttle open and got as far ahead of that jerk as I could! I ended up with a red right half of my face, which the next day, was a huge bruise. Today, I try to stay away from behind or beside those things. :icon_mad:
