I've been reading the latest responses, myself, and you ask
a very pivital question.
You get the government you deserve, and that idea while true scares me. Give you a small example.
As many of you know I was fighting our local municipality over my alarm system. Not only did they want ten bucks, but they also wanted me to provide a list of my possessions that "might pose a danger to firefighters and law enforcement" in the event of another event. I refused. But get this.
I had enough. I went to see our local DA, I told him I refused to comply since that request violates my 4th and 5th Amendment rights, creates a dichotomy under the 10th, and at the very least sets aside the spirit of "equal justice under the law."
Now get this, he reached behind his desk for a statute book. The DA. The guy we elected because
he knew the law and would defend our rights, not only against violators, but also to guarantee the rights of the citizenry.
He concluded his city ordinance was indeed uncconstitutional, voided my court citation, and closed the case.
My point is simple. Numerous citizens with alarm systems have complied. He had never had a citizen question the law. Dozens of people sold out their birthright because they were afraid of the government. With that attitude, it's no wonder we have our present Washington mentality, resulting in our treatement as subjects, not free citizens.
