Pasta? MEAT give us MEAT!!
I can make pasta at home - really good BBQ needs that low and slow cooking you can only get at a real BBQ, not grilling, BBQ.


You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.

Whoa, I didn't say to leave the meat out, I meant to add the pasta to the menu. Life isn't all about sweaty armpits. A little culture is a good thing.

Yeah, could be. But there's a lot of nice stuff out there that the "macho" side of our behavior dismisses, and we miss out on a lot.

In learning how to sharpen/polish our common knives in the style used by the smaurai, I studied some Japanese history books. Fascinating. I'm currently reading the life story of Musashi, a man tougher and more dangerous than any guy who ever threw a leg o'er. My life is richer because I sought to make my knives sharper. Not all culture is bad.

I never equated "pasta" with culture, or meat with sweaty arm pits... Interesting

I grew up on pasta 3 times a week but real old fashion BBQ the kind that KC is known for is a real treat. I'd be traveling 1200 miles for that and more of it for snacks on the way home. Nothing to do with culture but every thing to do with taste... Man I'm getting a hankerin' for some of that slow cooking.

Probably regional. We don't have BBQ here like you do. We have "ribs on a grill in sauce."

My guess is it's the same for you. You have "noodles."

Wisconsinites know brats like some snobs know fine wines. Serious tailgaters here divide their loyalties in bratwurst brands with as much passion as Civil War Re-enactors. However I have only seen one of those huge rolling truck-size BBQ grills in person only once in my lifetime.

I grew up in New York and on authentic Italian cooking, I know sauces and pasta, and I love it all. Our idea of BBQ is a grilled piece of meat: pork, beef, chicken, turkey, cooking time usually 1 hour or much less. I was watching the cooking channel on tv and they showed the BBQ houses of the mid-west (Kansas City, Texas, etc...) Slow cooked (10 hours) fall off the bone tender and looked really good. I've had smoked/slow cooked but nothing like what they showed on TV. So I now understand the difference between the Grill (what I use in the back yard) and BBQ (what "they" call the slow cooking process). I'd like to believe that the taste is as good as it looked.

When it comes to grilling I can say that I've tried everything I can, grilled salmon, green onions and peppers, tomatoes, potatoes.... But the sound of those Brats sounds pretty darn good too.

Grilling, or BBQ... take your pick. means the same to me. seems like if ya make a lot of money you "grill out" the rest of us poor folks have everybody over for a BBQ and bring your own beer!! We BBQ pork steaks. that is pork shoulder sliced across the bone. bout 3/4 of an inch thick on low heat. cook till it is not pink inside. add sauce after the outside starts to char... if ya got time, take them off the grill and let them soak in 50/50 beer and sauce till the women get the rest of the food ready! You have another beer during this time.
Boys, i'm telling ya this is good eatin!
