I know I used humor here, but the spirit of my post is dead serious. If you care about something, you take care of it. And I see no good reason to give a spammer or a poser a moment's peace. badinfluence63 wrote: Most posters are proverbial sheep being lead to slaughter I think that's why these mouthy 'little kings' take over a fourm and trash it. Nobody says a word or complains. Many forums, like the old BF, had slumlord owners and out of control moderators. No one spoke out of turn fearing an unearned ban. Hopefully we earn a rep, like USN or bullshido. Nothing would please me more than to hear a spammer report, "I tried to sell my penis ointment over at HRF and twelve angry bikers jumped down my throat and called my mother..."

Usually its "bots" or auto spamming. They hit a web site and auto post about 10-50 spam posts about a product so its not even a real human doing it?

In truth, that doesn't concern me. It's a real human, a "spammer," that initiates the action. He's the culprit. If you attack someone and hurt them, it doesn't matter if you do it with a crowbar, a manhole cover or a case of penis ointment. It's your intent under the law. Same should apply here. If a human spammer wakes up one morning in his mom's laundry room, and while masturbating comes to the realization that he can make money spamming penis lubrication--and sends a bot out to the general internet--then he's guilty. And that's whether he mucked up only one forum, or a thousand. He's created a mess here at HRF, made our moderators do needless work, damaged the private property of the forum owner, perhaps infected that server necessitating the purchase of firewall software or malware, and initiated a condition that might blunt new membership--bikers who might have made potential purchases from forum advertisers. In short, a spammer has damaged a business and ought to be held accountable for that action. If that spammer picked my pocket or assaulted me in a tavern, and I put in him the hospital while waiting for the arresting sworn officer, we would all agree my action was understandable. The masturbator simply did his action on-line. My opinion is that this is the same crime.

I was talking to Headmaster about the spammers over the weekend, He gets a kick out of deleting them, and wants everyone to know that the "!" report button is a tool for all of us to use.

In a perfect world sure. In todays world and apparently being a money gathering mechanism I don't see the auto bots and other offending cyber money making mechanisms like that changing, I see it getting worse. Its really not a big deal, every forum has that issue and as long as the Admins and Mods stay on top of it the bots and spammers ultimatley lose. You could always ask them what's the best way to unscrew a rusted marlin spike from a 1953 knuckle. First you have to explain the monkey wrench deal yuunow.

Its easy to see which posters aren't here as part of the community. If the post starts out with links and product info and the OP's post count is single digits... As for the "Liars" all I got to say is we're bikers... nuff said. EX: Ol' Lady- Did you go to that nudie bar with your buddies? Biker- Um, no dear.

Bend the truth? Moi? Well, now some decades ago I might tell a sweet young thing I was a cardiac surgeon or an astronaut, but then, she usually told me that "she had never done this before." Hey, it was the 1960s. Oh, I might push the bounds of veracity now, like, "No, this stiletto is for decorative purposes only." But then, freebooters, highwaymen and knife sharpeners are fighting the battle of a 'silver tongue' uphill all the distance for centuries. Not much I can do to buck the trend.

Been to the rest and this is the best. The others are too heavily mediated. I am tired of trying to help ppl that don't give a zip about anything. HRF
