*sigh* Yes, and no. Let me explain.

I love this forum, as well. Painfully, we are going to get our share of posers and spammers. What you saw me do was what I would do out in "the real world." As I have harped, you shouldn't print anything in a forum that you wouldn't say to a guy's face in a saloon. I've heard guys says, "Well, it's just the internet," but I disagree. There's a real live human at the end of every one of these computers.

Do you have a favorite saloon? Lots of citizens, newbs and prospects will enter and mingle. No prob. However, along with the good guys there will come posers, petty thieves and drunken townies. And you know how that ends.

I'm willing to listen to chest-thumping about a newb who owns a 175 MPH Sportster. Sometimes the poser offers up a new slant to his tales of bravado. He'll finish his beer and leave when he realizes he's the butt end of a sad joke. However, I learned this rite of passage when I was 19 years old and having a good mentor meant something.

You're right, the initial fight might lead to friendship. For example, a guy pulled up into our saloon parking lot and the bottom half of the front forks on his Triumph slid right off and clattered to the ground. Amazingly he had just ridden in 30 miles from Portage, Wisconsin. I tagged him as the biggest poser I had ever seen. Twenty years later he was the best man at my wedding.

I treated this cyber goof the same way I would in real life. The guy ought to be honored we even cared enough to answer him. The ball is in his court. We are essentially giving him a second chance.

He wasn't too happy with the way you responded, I didn't read it that way but then I'm not him, and I'm not you. I see things differently, unless you straight out call me a MF'r and you ain't smiling when you do it then and pretty much only then will the anger start inside my chest.

He wasn't up for a little heckling, razzing or what ever and I've gotten treated worse and never gave it a second thought. It is unfortunate because he might have been a fun member, but there will be more. If he wants to return he will be welcome still.

I am NOT an Admin on this site, I have been here since the beginning but I'm just a member like anyone else. I care what happens here because I have time invested and friendships here.

BTW, I hope you don't automatically 'rubber stamp' my opinions or writing style. We should have diverse opinions, and if you cannot speak without fearing censorship here, then what do we really stand for?

If he left because of a few paragraphs I wrote, then I have to wonder about his commitment to anything. Do you like all of the members here, do you mingle with every customer at your home bike shop, heck, did you marry the first girl your ever met? You are going to rub paint in this world, that's the human experience.

You remember what my Dad said about funerals don't you? Well, he was never a Harley lover, that was Granddad. But his observation stands for all pursuits, especially ours.

If I agree with someone than that is what I do.
I've always enjoyed your take on what you write about, they seem well thought out.

BTW, my Dad's take was that if a man lived his life correctly his funeral should be packed. Half there to mourn, the other half to make sure he's dead.

God f'd up. He takes away the old knowledgeable and replaces it with ignorance every generation only to repeat the process for every lifetime. Unfortunately common sense seems to be the one thing younger generation is lacking.

Well, I'm with you about 50% of the way. First I'd like to hear the credentials for the stories.

Gotta be honest, guy. Kind of reminded me of a new biker in town, all the right clothes, all the right jargon, and brand new shiny boots with pristine heels. Could be new boots, could be his dad's stories, could be a cop. Who knows.

If he does ride, and that's an 'if,' why did he get his nose so far out of joint when questioned about some very real concerns. RK is tired of the spammers, I'm tired of the posers, and we're all tired with guys who post a greeting only to never be heard from again.

These are true concerns for forums, the guy was a goof. We dodged a bullet.
