Darn tootin' good job! I blew the entire engine out of a 1979 Gold Wing--right down to the frame rails.

Red badge of courage, my friend. Bikers should have scars, otherwise posers wouldn't want to be like us. But look on the bright side. Baker might make a Seven-Speed version of their transmission, and you'll have one of the first ones...

*all capitals* I'm older not deafer.

I agree, I try to use all HD parts on my customs and I always have.

It's not that I believe that MoCo has 'superior' technology, it's just that I am part of a dying breed that actually rides their toys. For example, it a I break something or wear something out, my wrench is apt to ask, "It's your own fault. Are you actually riding your bike instead of staying home to polish it?"

However, if I snap something on the road, or even out of town, I can pull into a different HD franchise, they can pull up my records and find me the part. I might even qualiy for some discount or recall. For example, Spinner's headlamp fogged, and MoCo gave me a 400 dollar replacement (plus the needed installation fee) for gratis.

I do see lots of home bikers with V&H pipes and that CPU interface or Harley downloads. It appears that our shop recognizes those parts and the need to service the entire bike. I also believe they are a quality part, I just don't like their offerings for my bikes (yet).

Even if your new Harley 6-speed clunks or whines, it is a Harley component, and you can get it fixed nationally--that is, if you are a true rebel and join me in riding it... :icon_clap:

That's okay, RK, you know my policy on being a mentor. I shall now attempt to bridge that gap. Fortunately after years of rubbing elbows with townies, I speak enough of the lingo to get by.

eagle103, CLEARLY YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ACT IN THE COMPANY OF MEN, MY YOUNG PADAWAN LEARNER. HENCEFORTH, YOU SHALL BE KNOWN AS "DARTH VAPID" AND I SHALL ADDRESS YOU AS SUCH, AS YOU CAN SEE BY MY YELLING.

WELL, DV, NOT ONLY DID YOU SCREW UP YOUR TRANSMISSION, BUT ALSO YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION TO THIS FORUM. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT YOU DO NOT SPEAK IN A FORUM IN ANY DIFFERING MANNER THAN YOU WOULD TO A MAN'S FACE IN A SALOON. "EPISODE IV--A NEW HOPE" CONTAINS IMPORTANT BARROOM ETIQUETTE WHEN BEING DARTH RICHARD CRANIUM.

DO YOU NOW UNDERSTAND???
