guys am in the middle east. so it gets pretty hot in there summer over here. gets around
45-50 degrees celcius (113F - 120F degrees)
am 6"1' 210 pounds (190cm 95 kilos)

i heard that the V-Rod family heats up quick and not reliable, is that true and how far can i use it based on our conditions here in middle east and my over all weight and height. is there anything i can do to tune it to better suits our conditions, and how much will it almost costs

thanks and regards

When the V-Rod premiered, they showed the R/D work on a cable TV documentary.

After the test bike was beaten into the ground, the test riders parked the bike running in an enclosure with reflective walls--for an hour. The bike did not overheat.

The best thing to do is that when you sign your contract make sure you clearly understand the warranty. You have to make sure your limited warranty covers temperature extremes.

back in the day the rod came out I remember something like that in a mag layout, where they showed how hot it could take...
Responding to the PM:
I'd take the Tourists advise when you make the purchase, make sure the dealer knows what/where/how hot it is in the environment you'll be using it in.
If you already bought the bike and now you want to make modifications...
any thing to help it stay and keep cool.
thermostats
bigger fans
specialized antifreeze/coolants
thicker oils/ 20-50 probably even thicker if you can get it.
hope it helps
RK
Keep us posted how you make out.

Personally I think the newer Harleys run way too hot. Granted, "back in the day" the standard for carb jetting was coal black soot in the tail-pipes. Modern EFI engines are tuned much better, and don't need the rich mixtures we used to use.

However, while my 2004 Dyna was tuned originally in a more sensible fashion, my 2010 Sportster was leaned out far too much. She belched heat, and I felt I was leaning over a backyard barbeque grill at stoplights.

Both bikes now have Screaming Beagle pipes, better air-filtration systems, computer downloads and the Dyna got a custom dyno program. Gone is the heat, and the bikes perform better.

When this first happened to Harley's line, MoCo actually sold shields to mount under seats to aim the scalding air-flow away from the rider. I said at that time that Harley should have incorporated liquid cooling to the line or fix the air-cooled motors. They wussed by building de-tuned 96 inch sleds to make up for the loss of BHP and torque on starving engines.

Everything old is new again. In the 1970s, Detroit built smaller, leaner motors as an answer to fuel purchasing problems. No new technology, just wheezing little motors. I think MoCo did the same. The V-Rod was an attempt to enter a marketplace where just about everything has a radiator. I think that motor needs to be refined.

You don't think we showed disrespect for his water-jacket Porsche, do you? Heck, MoCo did slap a bar-n-shield on it, what more do these guys want?

No!! on the contrary, we showed him TOO MUCH respect and treated him like one of our own, and he didn't earn any of it.

Well, a true Harley guy might rate a free pass, my problem is getting tough with a Porsche guy. They might bruise easily or turn Gloria Allred on us for making fun of liquid-cooling.
