I talked to my mechanic Ryan over the weekend, and my bikes will be ready by the end of this week. They were mechanically completed last autumn, but they need a final test ride and my shop detaills them before delivery. This winter has been too long. Like all women, Betty has a long, harsh memory. I'm sure the first blast down the slab will result in forgiveness, but you can't be too sure with a prima donna like Ebony Elizabeth. As for Spinner, I'm anxious about rapping off those new Screaming Beagle mufflers and see how that Heavy breather inhales. I got the model that replaces the stock filter, not that 'bent elbow' replacement. Not only do I hit that thing with my knee, but it's easier to sucker newbs into a drag race for money if the bike looks stock...

It appears I spoke too soon. The local weather forecast says that we are to get a mix of rain and snow by the end of the week...

Well, I feel better now. For me, spring is officially here. Yeah, I'm drinking scalding hot coffee, but my Sportster "Spinner" is out in the garage! New mods, more power, louder pipes, my first "skull" part and I am thrilled. She accelerates faster than BHO ducking a birth certificate question. Ya' know, it is like riding a bike!

This week it was cooler here, but manageable. You can tell it's that temp here in Wisconsin when the penguins only wear one sweater. I figured I poured all of that money into the little Sportster and I had the afternoon free, so I took a little loop.
Good thing I did. I went out to the mailbox this morning for the morning newspaper and snow was spitting on me! By the time the coffee brewed and I got to the whining section of this communist run manifesto editorial section my deck off of the breakfast nook was covered in white.
Oy.

Way back in college, I just bought a MG Midget convertable at the end of April, it snowed May 1...

Naturally they came with bald tires. One had no functional heater, until I found out the fan was shut down. I found it in spring. My folks said I would look fondly back at those hungry times. I'm 61 years old and I still don't!

Ya' know, I've been really cranky lately--three separate cases of blowing my stack, major. I think the time at the DMV this week was justified, but I digress.
I was having trouble in another forum, childish stuff, prissy old queens sniping at each other and I gave them the WTF speech reserved for children. But I was pissed, big time.
Anyhoo, it was supposed to rain today, and I just 'assumed' riding was out. But it was early morning, the sky looked clear and it was a bit early to hit the gym. I figured, hey, I have to break in these new "Sprocket Boots" I just got at the dealership, Spinner was all gassed up, it is my bike, after all...
Then I remembered the HD phrase that would make a good tattoo on your wrist, under the WWJD bracelet. You know, "Shut up and ride." Yikes, I felt like a childish clown myself.
I took a short jaunt, maybe 30 miles. A big loop, out the back way to the slab, down a few off ramps, made a circle and came back in the front way. Parked the bike, and guess what? The stress melted away faster than BHO's promise for 'change.'
I've always said that real bikers were born, not made. We understand why dogs go nuts hanging their heads out of moving cars. Does something to the blood. Makes a-holes look like, well, a-holes.
Polished my new boots, went to the gym. The end. I should have known...

It's Sunday afternoon in the Madison, Wisconsin area and I just came home at 80MPH with the Sportster engine off. I have never seen such a stiff wind. Even the Electra-Glides pulling into Capital City Harley were complaining.
At least I was with the wind coming home. Still uncomfortable and the cross winds tossed Spinner around like a liberal's promise.
I suppose your next question is why I took a Sportster 48, the littlest and lightest Sportster they make, into a fierce wind on the slab?
Eh, I'm a biker. If I planned things out in an intelligent manner I'd wind up collecting butterflies. Why did I seek out the company of women who could kill me? Things ought to dangerous to be fun.
It was worth it. I bought the new gun-metal grey Sportster 48 T-shirt. If sacrificing your life for a HD T-shirt isn't worth it, yikes, then what is...?
