I HAVE A 02 FLHTCI. WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE LACE WHEELS TO A SET OF 02 FATBOY WHEELS. PROBLEM IS AXLE SIZE FLH HAS 1" AXLE AND FATBOY HAS 3/4" AXLE. I EITHER NEED TO HAVE HUB ON FATBOY WHEELS BORED TO ACCEPT 1" AXLE HUB SPACER OR CHANGE AXLE ON FLH TO 3/4" AND MAKE SPACERS TO SIZE DOWN. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

my buddy did what you want to and for years all I ever heard was why did you let me do that....
he said "the bike handled so much better with the spokes"
he also didn't like the way it reacted to cross winds.
the soft tail bikes have a lower center of gravity than the FLH family and the solid wheels don't affect the ride the same.
It looked cool for a while but where ever we'd park them together and they were identical except for the wheels, people always pointed to mine when we'd ask 'em which one ya like better?
I had the spokes and still do since 1994.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE ROADKING, I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE CROSSWIND ISSUE. DO YOU KNOW HOW YOUR FRIEND ACCOMPLISHED THE CHANGE. DID HE USE SOLID WHEELS THAT DID NOT REQUIRE ANY MODS OR DID HE HAVE SOFTTAIL WHEELS MODIFIED.

I agree with the spoke idea, I have a spoke wheel on the front of Betty, and it improved the handling over the original wheel. I also have a solid wheel in the rear, but I cannot feel a thing.

he did the smaller axle and bushings i believe. I called him up but he didn't remember, he had the dealership do it and he just pays the bills.
