Here's my 2000 FXD Superglide...

Image

Image

When you start with a FXD, it's a pretty blank canvas. I bought this in '05, pretty well bone stock, with only 6K miles on the clock. It was a cobalt pearl, and the paint was getting pretty drab. The only mods the former owner had done to it was a stage 1 kit on the carb, and Screamin' Eagle slip on mufflers.

Under a tight budget, I needed to do all the maintenence and service to the bike, and to do any updates and mods. The only thing I've farmed out is the paint. Here's what I've done, to date...

-forward controls
-Metzeller ME-880 rubber
-polished all cases (some from rough castings)
-seat (H-D... model unknown)
-sissy bar & bracket
-H-D nostalga A/C (I hate kidney beans!)
-Progressive 412 covered chrome shocks
-Drag Specialties Python crossover pipes
-"buckhorn" bars (gift, off a XL 883 hugger) I drilled and slotted for internal wiring

-paint- House of Color 4 color flames. Very proud of this paint. Done by young man locally that really knows what he's doing...

This is truly the '55 Chevy street machine I never got to have... and I love it to pieces!

I like the look. I really like the HD A/C. Is there anything special that you needed to do in order to make that work? Did you need to adjust for changing the air intake?

Thanks, dp... no, that's called a "nostalgia air cleaner" and is a H-D part... your only requirement is that a Stage 1 upgrade be done. There's a foam adhesive backed ring that comes with the cover, and it just bolts right on.

Thanks, Roadking... funny story about the paint... I went to the kid with all sorts of photos and sketches, I blew off at length about some ideas.

He scratched his head, and finally said, "California Kid flames?"

I said, "You got it. Just wing it!"

Couldn't be happier...

Man you nailed with that 55 chevy comment. Yes I like it. It has that old school runner look to it. I like what you have done to it. Raw and honest.

Super easy,
when you log in you should see "New Messages" right under the main -top- heading and just click on it.
