I really love to ride. My wife and I ride all the time. I have a 2004 Wide Glide. I bought it with just about 5000 miles on it. It now has 75000. I would like to ride it to Montana or Utah this summer. She still feels strong, but I am a little concerned. I know that a bike with less miles can have just as much trouble as one with the miles I have. I am looking for some tips to insure a safe and sound ride. New tires will be here soon, an oil change before we leave. Not sure what else needs to be done. Thanks for your input

Off the top of my head I'd check the primary chain, the drive belt and the cables. Maybe a leak-down test. I yanked off all of my electrics on my 2004 Dyna and updated them with Screaming Beagle parts. Updated my oil pump, too.
Oh, and before the trip find a shifty knife sharpener, pay him well, and don't forget the gratuity. Blade polishers are like chimney sweeps. Their hands are stained with swarf, and good luck will rub off when they shake hands with you...

I suspect that each time you change the tires you inspect the wheel bearings. Does yours have sealed bearings? 75K mile - are the lifter the originals? Prolly time to change if they are. In '04 did they have the old or new cam tensioners? Do they need to get checked every 20K? Have you bled the brake lines recently? Chain - belt - all fluids - tires - brakes - are monthly things to check. Good Luck
