Get you a inspection mirrow, and there's supposed to be away to get thru with the mirrow..

i found an inspection mirror at the local refrigeration supplier. under 10$ and if it's taken care of (not stepped on) it should last a long time. now for the special socket and the locking pins.

It's my opinion that one of the best ways to see what's going on inside the engine is when you change the oil, as the oil is coming out of the plug area, strain it through one of those typical kitchen-type strainers that you find at a dollar store. If all comes out clean, you're good. On the newer engines like on my 2012 FLHTCi if I ever see tiny pieces of orange plastic appear, I'll know the cam chain tensioner is wearing down.

The oil is the engine's life blood, it can tell it all - we just need to understand the signs. Thanks for the tip.
