I have an 03 Sc. Eagle Road King with 29,000 miles on it. It has begun to drip under the primary, but my dealer says it's actually the gear shaft seal that exits the tranny. Does that sound normal or is it more likely to be the primary seal? I guess either way it needs done, but I never thought I would contract a leak. I thought these issues were corrected years ago? Anyone else with this issue?

I see your question has been out there a while and this is really just IMHO since I'm not an HD mechanic but in answer to your question, yes, the leaking issues HD was known for years ago have been healed for some time. Now, does that mean NO Harley will ever leak again for any reason? No...

Could be that particular bike got a seal or gasket that wasn't made properly or something got improperly torqued. That stinks man...sorry to hear that. Good luck getting it fixed up....

I've had my evo since 94, it started to leak from the tranny output shaft seal after i had the "dealer" replace the back tire... in 95...
Since then, I've never taken it to a dealer again, instead I bought the shop manual and do all the work myself. For the few drops it does leak it just hasn't been bad enough to have to go through the fix yet and I've
gone all over the place on it, and just like the big dog I am, I figure its just markin its territory :icon_cool:

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
