I just sold my 2019 Triglide for lack of use & because it gets so hot! I’m looking at a 2014 1200 Sportster Custom. Does the Sporster have the same “Heat” problem as the Triglide had?

Hi welcome to the forum. You need to understand one thing. That is you are sitting on top of a big heater. Riding in the cold you will be grateful for the heat. Riding in the hot summer you'd wish that you stayed home in the air conditioning! Whatever you riding even if there is a radiator it will all be the same. When that radiator fan starts it's like standing next to a BBQ. The only remedy is not to stay still to long keep moving. Oh and whatever you do don't wear shorts and hit your bare leg against the exhaust. You can tell a real biker by how many heat burn scars on their leg! LOL

Thanks Lenny for your comment. I probably should have noted before that I have been riding a Harley for more then 30 years. Many times riding in the winter in PA I looked for that heat from the engine. The heat from both my 2013 and 2019 Triglides were just over the top, especially here in Florida. I understand that the heat problem is from the catalytic convertor. Since we were not riding much anyway we decided to sell the Trike. Now I am “Harleyless” for the first time in years & I think I want another, but something smaller and not as costly. I’m hoping that the cat convertor in a 2014 or 15 Sportster 1200 would not be so bad. I was hoping someone could tell me.

Welcome to the 30 year club! I don't think that you are going to get around the heat problem especially in FLa. The heat and humility is way too much for me. I lived in Fla for a few years I couldn't take it. The exhaust and the engine heat is very uncomfortable. Even here in So Cal. I ride in shorts and I think that sometimes it would be cooler to ride in long pants. Not much advice I or anyone can give on this subject. Maybe someone out there will invent and cooler to keep the heat away.
Get yourself another bike just so when the urge hits you got something to ride. Sporty's are cheap on the used market.
