A few years back I switched over to all 3 holes synthetic - not long after, my engine puked a cam bearing into the mix - I don't believe that had anything to do with it. The oil was supposed to last 2 times longer so it wasn't supposed to cost more... Seems the oil was super dirty after keeping it in for twice as long tho - did that have something to do with the cam bearing? I still don't think so.

I went back to changing the oil when it gets dirty - every 3k or so miles - now the oil is getting expensive to say the least. I'm thinking about going back to Dino oil in the engine - I figure since I change it often and I use high quality oil it should be no problem.

If anyone has any input I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

All I use in my engine is Harley regular oil, changed every 2,500 miles along with a Harley filter. I now have 229,000 miles on the bike.

Hi RK,Don't know if it makes a difference but like Harley I only use HD regular oil,and if Harley's mileage is anything to go but then you can't go far wrong with HD regular oil,but yeah it ain't cheap over here either, but I would sooner be safe than sorry. Hey Harley that is some mileage bro!

That says a lot for HD oil and also a lot for Harley's ,not many makes of bikes run up those mileages!

Harley without a doubt that is impressive to have that high miles. Sorry I never got to see you that weekend when you were out this way. I really think that the key factor in Harley's instance is that he is on top of his maintenance. At 2500 miles the oil is probably just about to start braking down. To put fresh oil and a filter every 2500 miles is a great recipe for 1,000,000 miles. Go Deerslayer!!
