installed new flush mount gas cap with LED fuel indicater. also just installed solenoid bypass button.mounted directly to the solenoid. did a test try now my bike won't idle. and the starter
button on the control won't start my bike .??? didn't unplug anything except for removing the cover on the solenoid. check gauge wiring colors match up orange to orange yellow to yellow and black to black.also when I switch the ignition on the security lights start flashing.is there a security bypass or code I was suppose to reset or something.????

SOLOVED

After racking brain and over heating my laptop thinking of every possible reason as to why my bike won't idle or start from the control. I finally decided to read the Manuel :icon_clap:

well it turns out the simplest thing is where you should start before you start burning the midnight oil
or spending tons of cash which by the way is something I don't have !!!
I spent $3.00 whole dollars to replace the BATTERY in my FOB and sure enough my bike start with no
hesitation.turns out the security system was doing its job.

LESSON LEARNED : don't forget to check the simple things

I read your post right after you started the thread - above my pay/knowledge grade :icon_laughing:

Glad to see you got it figured out - thanks for sharing the lesson learned.

I have to admit, I've been there, learned the same lesson time and time again - thats why most times I suggest the manual over a guess patchwork. Lucky - it was just a $3 fix!! most times for me its a time consuming, engine dismantling, pain the butt.

Hope everything keeps working like it's supposed to :icon_bang:

you know what road king I'm glad I read the Manuel . :icon_whee:
because If didn't SOLVE this issue I might have taken my bike to the one place I
really don't want the certified tech to even put his finger on.bad experience with my 74 shovel. and that bike doesn't even have a security system on it . :icon_rip:

I really thank GOD for buddies who know a thing or five. and the Harley Forum so people like myself
can get help or at-least get pointed in the right direction. :icon_hat:

thanks for the feed back

topgear671,
We all are thankful for this place and our buddies - I really think that is the true meaning of our brotherhood.
Motorcycle people are a special type of folks - you can only understand if you are one of them.
Too bad the whole world doesn't ride.

The certified tech the g-d of motorcycle repairs! They would of fixed something that wasn't broken and given you back your bike only to find out when you tried to start it the next morning you still have the problem.

Hey topgear you show your age. How do I know this it takes a lot of problems like this to finally learn how to read the manual. Not getting down on you I'm the same way NOW! It use to be that if something broke I would rip into it and take it all apart only to find out I just needed to turn a screw a half turn to make it work right. Now I just sit back take a deep breath and look for the obvious. I now tap myself on the back for saving myself a lot of time and effort putting things back together that didn't need to be taken apart in the first place.

Moral of the story is check the obvious first and then take it apart or bring it to your friendly neighborhood certified tech! :icon_whee:

Thanks for getting back to us with the solution! :icon_You_Rock:
