hi, ive got a 1984 flt classic,had it for about 5 months,has 76000 miles on it,and do regular fluid maintenance. mornings are a bit colder,and after initial start and warm-up,clutch seems to slip as i accelerate. only happens in the mornings, and just recently. afternoon start-ups and acceleration is ok. in the morning it takes about 5 minutes of riding when clutch seems to "catch",and then its good. question is,whats causing this morning slippage?

What oil are you using in your primary. If you are using full synthetic this may be the problem. Try using the Harley oil that they recommended before full synthetic for primary. I have seen some clutch slip because of this. Or try taking out any synthetic oil from your primary and us non synthetic in it. This may stop the slippage.

I had a girlfriend like that - in the mornings she was much more "slippery" than later in the day!!
Not always a bad thing!!

Patrick,had same problem in1997 dynaglide. changed from fully synthetic to Harley 20/50 and like Lenny said it cured it. RK We must have had the same girlfriend. Rod

20-50 in the primary? That's not primary oil, I believe the non synthetic is Formula X for the primary
