Hardrider,
good thread. I like this one. Looking back at years past there were some epic rides done and shared. I hope to post some epic rides this year. I'm over due on a trip to the Grand Canyon. I've got at least one more trip to Kings Canyon to do. I'd like to see farther up the coast maybe up to the Canadian border. Sturgis might be a possibility this year. Some Kansas City BBQ might be a dream but I"ll put it on this years list.

I'm thinking about getting a truck for work and it might make road trips easier to trailer the bike and the dog and all the stuff for both than not being able to go because of the dog, or should I say - someone to take care of him while I'm gone. I've tried the kennel route and he was not invited back.

The truck has the space to keep everything I need and in a pinch can double as a safe place to sleep. Something a bike saddle lacks. I have laid a blanket out next to my bike and slept but it was in a place I knew was safe from all wild life and had been to many times before. Road trips thru new territory are different.

I have some short trips planned to nearby sites for later in the year will post as I go.

Hope everyone gets a chance to do some fun stuff this year.

Taking a week and a half, where to to be determined later.

I am taking a couple of weeks off to visit some of my friends in Northern California. Through the Sacramento area and then up into Lake Tahoe. Will update with pics after the trip.

I've been up that way. I took Pacific Coast Highway all the way up to San Fransisco. It doesn't go the entire way but in segments that interlace with surface streets and portions of highway 101. I had a great trip. As anyone that has gone that route will tell you - worth the extra time.
I took 2 days to get there - camped at Montana del Oro state park. I wished I stayed longer than just one night. Very cool place with trails I took my mc on. I went all over and didn't scratch the surface of that place. Watched the sunset from a rocky hillside sitting on my bike. Check that one off the bucket list - movie scene quality ride up the CA coast line - solo rider into the sunset.

The ride into Tahoe is one I'm still looking forward to. I'm going to do the loop. Up the coast - over to tahoe - down into Vegas - I hear that leg is a real board scraper for hours - right up my alley. From Vegas back to LA - pretty much all freeway - high speed cruise though the desert. I'm keeping it open - I want to spend an extra day here and there probably take a week - just rolling through.

Hope your trip is a success.

I can finally answer that question...taking 10 days in September right after Labor day. Gonna go to the Jersey Shore for the first 4 days anyways. Wife always wanted to go there. Its only 360 miles away. Urban compact and which I dislike but what the heck. There is a doctor here who grew up there so he's been helpful about places to see and things top do. He said September is the best because everyone goes back to school and hotel prices drop. Not crowded but still warm.

The next 6-7 days we'll head to Pennsylvania/Virginia.
