After 20 years on a Honda shadow, I finally made the move to the bike that I always wanted.
I bought a 2004 Fat Boy, with custom seat, Custom Air Cleaner, Custom Pipes (Screamin Eagles) and Custom handlebars.
It had 6,000 miles on it, (now more, obviously) and was (and still is) showroom clean (not a dent, scratch, etc).
I'd guess that I felt like "one" with the bike, within the first mile from the Dealership.
Anyone know why the Owners Manual calls the Kick Stand a "Jiffy?" Weird name.
It sure was nice to have a gas gauge, EFI, a Security System and self-cancelling signals!!

Hi Soupy, Sounds like you have a winner! I love the self-cancelling turn signals as well. Can't be looking like a nerd out there with the blinker on for a mile  Never heard of the jiffy.

Hey soupy,welcome,congrats on the new bike Harley is the way to go.don't know why it's called a jiffy stand, somebody on forum will know.in the UK we call it the side stand, enjoy the bike and be safe. Rod

Welcome to the forum!!
It's there in JIFFY. It was named way back when that word was used regularly.
I always loved the "Fat Boy" great bike. I rode one to the top of Holyokala, 10,000'+ Elevation on Maui. Hope you enjoy yours even more.

Jiffy stand is a Harley term, and is different than a kickstand as it won't crash you if left down. It also come from the time that the stand was on the rear of the motorcycle and lifted up the rear tire off the ground so as bikes got heavier they created the Jiffy Stand. When I chopped my Sprtster in 71 I mounted a Jiffy stand instead of the kickstand and never looked back. It is a stop on the York Factory tour and you watch them being forged.
