Just bought a new Michelin commander rear tire paid 140.00 no tax, different tread than my last one, which I used going cross country in 2011, This new one is suppose to get better mileage than the first one I had, I will see. Rode it in the rain today and it was able to take a good amount of power before breaking loose. It was good in turns and breaking in a good downpour. Felt secure with that tire in the rear, on the front I have a Dunlap that has about 6 thousand on it. The side walls look better than the last commander I had, I will see what it takes to break it loose in 2nd gear, then I can make a guess how much mileage I will get out of it. NHRA national at New England dragway this weekend, that's where I will be from Thursday till Sunday. DEERSLAYER

I really dig these tires - but I'm interested in your opinion once you get some miles on them... Keep me posted.
The one time I got stuck in a downpour my back tire broke loose fairly easily - but we get so little rain out here that the oil and dirt on the road make it really super slick once it does rain.
Best of luck with it!!

Hey RK,
Hope all is well out in sunny California. I am going to purchase new tires for Mertle and appreciate the posts I found in this thread. Are you still sold on the Michelin Commander II tires? I have found the front tire on-line for $166.99 (130/70B18 63H) with free shipping. I got over 13,000 miles on my original Dunlops and my second set is now over 11,000 miles, but I want to change before we do our long trip in July. I would hate to have tire problems in Montana! Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Oh by the way.....snow is finally gone in southern MO! :icon_whee:

I failed to mention the Michelin Commander 2 rear tire is over $180, but this is still cheaper than buying the Dunlops through my local HD store.

Hey,
Doing well, it's been unseasonably warm lately, no snow!! :icon_clap:

The MCII's are great tires. We don't get much rain out here, when we did they weren't so good... I only got stuck in the rain once, and it hadn't rained in a long time when it did happen. The roads were covering in an oil slick and even the car tires spin if you hit it too hard on the painted surfaces. So I concluded that the tires weren't to blame. That said.
I think the tires are great. I liked them so much a bought a second set last year. I got almost 11k out of the first back tire and have 16k+ on the current front tire. I didn't take it easy on the first back tire so your mileage may vary...
Very supple ride, easy on the bumps and great in the corners. I hope they give you the same great ride and service I got. I recommend them. I keep my tires around 38-40 psi.

Thanks for your input RK! I will definitely be a Michelin Man before July.

As the AC/DC song says, "Ride On"!

Your welcome.
I've heard people get as many as 12k out of a back tire. I usually got 9,000+ out of the dunlops. These do get more miles.
